I know this is part of aspergers to have an obsessive routine and scheduling. have any of you got past this and managed to be more... free for lack of a better word. how did you do this? When my day is not scheduled I panic thinking I will forget what I need to do,

Yes, but when I do, I don't do anything. I'd rather be doing something than nothing.

I don't schedule my days because if something happens and the schedule gets broken... my day will be screwed up. BUT, since I don't schedule I often hurt myself by not getting things I need to do done. It's a double edged sword... apparently.

I have that tendency, too. When it was bad, I had to even include scheduling itself in my schedule if you know what I mean. That was crazy. Without a plan/schedule I feel very uncomfortable as if I were completely lost. I think in my case the fear of decision making plays a part as well because without a schedule I will have decide what to do next.

I think I tend to try to schedule only roughly to be a bit more comfortable. I also try not to worry too much about wasting time because my obsessive scheduling comes partly from the effort not to waste time. If I waste time it's ok. At least I get some relaxing time out of it rather than stressing about it.

i used to be very rigid about my schedule. Like i would plan it out and if something goes wrong i would get upset and my day would get destroyed. I relized i had to do something about as it was getting to other people about my repitive routines. What i basically do is do things that are "best fit" meaning i try to time something i need to do with ample time to do it. For instance, i might do my homework at 1230am if its not possible for me to study for 3 hours straight without interupptions. I am terrible at math, and i really have to burn a lot of energy just to do it =/
