What the teacher said was wrong. But don't go around telling people you are autistic because this is the bad treatment you will get because of it. One's diagnosis is often better kept quiet about as you will be discriminated against less.

Why should i be quiet about it?

Im an open minded person, i have no reason to hide my problems just because some people discriminate me against it.

Im not going to let this bother me, i will keep marching on.

Unless it's actually relevant to the situation, it's better not to disclose things about yourself. I have a diagnosis but to a large extent I only tell people who I think need or deserve to know. Why? As well as any potential discrimination you may receive from less tolerant people, by and large it's not really any of their business. It's always better to treat things like this on a need-to-know basis: if they don't need to know, you keep your mouth shut.

Oh, and by the way: The Sun is a scummy rag that exploits people.

Hey Fraz. . .

Long ago wild emotion was a good thing. Bone rattling fear, run like the wind screaming might have helped if your lot was jumped by a sabrecat.

We rarely are attacked by them anymore. No one wants a power reactor crew being real emo when the lights begin to flash.

If we aspies have difficulty it is with emos. We tend to be pretty capable in more conceptual areas.

ASPIE: the homo sapien sapiens Mk II

we are okay!

I think there's nothing wrong with being open about it, as long as you don't make a big deal about it. I've told people before and most of the time they're very reasonable about it, but that's because I haven't made myself out to be a pityable person because of it. The syndrome's a part of you, but it doesn't nessisarily define you. If you don't let it define you, no one else should define you by it either.

As for your teacher, even for an NT I'd say she's pretty much a b***h. I'd ignore comments like that as long as it doesn't affect her treatment towards you as a student.

I don't know that he was actually diagnosed, however maybe he was but doesn't want the whole world to know about it so keeps it quiet. I've just read things that say that peoplet hink he is because of how he was able to stick with his whole Microsoft thing like a special interest and many other things. Look it up in google, I'm sure you will find quite a bit about it, that's what I did. I think one site called it the geek syndrome or something.

Four years at the University and still cannot teach part of one year of high school.

Students just move through, but the turnover of failed teachers is fairly high. It was as high as they could reach and with all their effort, they are unable to teach one part of one year. Teachers rarely move up in life, a percentage moves down.

We have four people teaching math, the students from three do well the following year, those from one are hoplessly confused, can't catch up, and their future ruined. Here they tried the Master Teacher program, one compentant one to coach the others. They still failed.

Students are a product in process, bad primary education destroys secondary education. It got where good schools did not want students from bad schools. They had a defective education, and hated education, hard to work with. Here teachers have a union, and once hired, if they do not beat or have sex with the students, they have a lifetime job with retirement.

Everything was blamed on racism. Testing has little to do with students, they do not run the place, teachers who do not perform should be weeded out, then the union will go on strike. Now we test and if the school fails, it is closed, one way to get rid of bad teachers, and no one else will hire them. Many were busted for forging test scores.

Personal attacks on students in private have protected teachers from charges about a lot of things they were guilty of. I saw a list on the internet of several hundred who had been busted for having sex with students, busted is when someone talks, several were involved, at the teachers house, so the real numbers are much higher, Most were women. Most had gotten away with it for years.

What she did was her problem not yours, unless it affects your grades. Perhaps she has something which she credits with holding her back? He statement seems to come from within. Adulthood is not a magic carpet that solves all problems. We are just a bunch of old kids with worse problems. She is hostile, angry, bottled up, and most likely does not remember what she lets slip.

You are a big kid now so I can tell you, life is not perfect. Humans are defined by their failings. Some get very bitter. In the US about one in thirty is in jail or on probation/parole. One in seven has spent time in a mental instituion. Sometimes I think the rest have just not been caught yet. Your dear teacher could have taken a mental health vacation for two weeks when she was sixteen, and is forever barred from many forms of employment.

AS has no cause, treatment, cure, so why have a paperwork trail? It will not help you, and could harm you.

You seem to be mainstream in school, out in a few years. Aspies make good students, maybe university, maybe tech, more money, less competition. Giving her a break, understanding she is less than happy, some ghosts in her closet, perhaps it was mom who freaked and took it out on her? You can never know someone else's past. You have your own load.

If you had said the same to me two months ago I would have asked, "What is AS?" So she has knowledge of such things, you bumped into someone's sore spot, they reacted from deep within, it does not mean anything.

All that counts is you being you, finding the best life you can, and enjoying it.

I see several levels around here. Nutbag and I remember when dirt was invented. We had no words for any of this, we were different, so was everyone else. More people drink themselves to death than have AS, more spend most of their life in prison. We were not the best or worst. We just made a life.

Those maybe twice your age were discovered, by people who saw a way to make money and sell drugs. First the world had to be convinced they were sick, and needed to be cured. Kids grew up on drugs, even pot heads take breaks, but this group was bad drugged, AS is enough, don't need that too.

Now it has swung back to, so? Like everyone else you have to go with what you have. No one is perfect, and in your case there is a good chance that you may have a higher than normal IQ, and some real talent. You may be great on a Sax, save it for the weekend, get an education, develop skillls.

You have a problem with girls? If you figure it out please tell me. You don't have a hundred friends, no one else does either. You are open about talking about? You and all the younger people here. It is no big thing.

You will meet other people like the teacher and worse, a lot of them. You did not create the problem, do not make it yours. As far as I am concerned that quota is filled. You will also meet some good people, I will give you a hint, they like good people. Happy people attract happy people, and even girls.

Treat yourself right, be kind to others, save the rest for when you are my age.
