Survey on sensory difficulties amongst people with autism.

Hello everyone,

My name is Tommy and I'm a 25-year-old student from Belgium. I'm currently doing research for a school project around sensory difficulties that people with an autism spectrum disorder experience. I myself have been diagnosed with ASD, this is also the reason for choosing sensory difficulties as the topic for my research.

This survey is for anyone who is either officially diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder or for those who are certain they have an autism spectrum disorder. Everyone who is on the Autism spectrum (any type) may participate, both diagnosed and self diagnosed.

The questions that cant be answered may be left open (Edit; added as to be clearer based on comment)

I really need a lot of data for this so I hope many will fill this in. The survey takes about 30 minutes and will help me a lot. I hope this survey gets shared amongst others on this forum which may not always visit the general forum section.

Also please let me know what you thought of the survey, so to keep this post a bit on top

The entire survey is anonymous and all data will be used in strict confidence and with great care. My project end is in Dutch but I will write a lengthy summery once I have completed my work and post it here. It may be quite interesting.

I would really like to thank everyone in advance for participating. I'll answer questions if that is needed in this thread, though I think everything is explained. The questions which ask for a rating (never, somtimes, etc) are on a typical day basis where half of the time means "50% of those activities in a typical day".

Just a thought, for some people some of these activities will be not-applicable (eg, work, siblings, partners), so perhaps including - or specifying the option to pick in that event would be a good idea. Also, you ask if people are diagnosed with either HFA or AS, are you specifying that those with mid-low functioning Autism and PDD-nos can't fill in this form? If so, that's fine, just you talk about ASDs earlier in the form, which covers those and then ask a question which misses a chunk of ASDs out. So, there could be more linguistic continuity.

Not hating on you, this is important research, just offering some constructive criticism.

I should have done some more homework and be clearer.

I couldn't take your test since it has been years since I've went to school not remembering the sensory issues that many years ago and I'm not able to leave the answers blank. If you put a N/A option as the last answer for each question than I can move forward. I will take your test again once you get the bugs out of it.

I do not have a job or a patner. So I put no for the qestions on them. there is no sensory problesm for those thigns. becuase I do not to them.

Hello, update due to personal health issues. The survey is still up and will be online for a while.
I can't edit the questions a whole lot, definitely can not mess with the answers or my data will get ruined. (It's a free survey website, not a lot of options there.

I'll see what I have. If you feel you can not answer the survey, than I'm very sorry. I'm still learning how to do proper research, this survey is just a small step into that direction. Mistakes that appear here will definitely help me in the long run.

I answered but I think my answers weren't very useful to you. They were pretty much ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS (except taste which was only sometimes on the non-food subjects).
