According to [http://intjforum.com/showthread.php?t=12683]this thread (post #9 on the first page), it appears that anything under about 41 is within the normal range.

It's not testing for schizophrenia, it's testing for schizotypal personality. Schizotypal personality is to schizophrenia as AS if to LFA, basically. (Though of course a low score on schizotypal personality means schizophrenia is pretty unlikely.)

The definition of Schizotypal Personality Disorder has always been a little irritating to me.

I think maybe I don't understand it. But being an Eclectic NeoPagan, currently researching Shamanism, I just feel like the whole "magical thinking" aspect of the test is a little biased....I mean, isn't there room for having different spiritual beliefs? It just seems slightly offensive or outdated to me.

Does choosing a certain spiritual belief make you more likely to have SPD? That's a bit offensive.

Edit: No offense to the OP or anyone. You didn't define the criteria for SPD.

Oh, and no offense to people who have SPD. It's just that usually scientists don't use spiritual practices as criteria for having a personality disorder, as far as I know.

I tend to agree with you here. I am a Christian and do feel that God speaks to my heart on certain occasions and that such a thing should not be held against me. It's not like I hear voices but rather get certain impressions. It's hard to explain, but common among certain Christian sects.

according to "WerewolfPoet" above, "According to [http://intjforum.com/showthread.php?t=12683]this thread (post #9 on the first page), it appears that anything under about 41 is within the normal range." so by dint of your 41 score, you are on the border of normal. :thumleft: keep in mind that this is testing for schizotypal personality disorder and not full-blown schizophrenia.

Several of the questions that predetermine a Schizotypal personality denote a substantial overlap with AS/HFA orientated traits like social anxiety and behavioral idiosyncrasies; consequently, this may lead to an equivocal account on one's neurological and psychological entity. I'm not at all intrigued with unconventional or magical beliefs like Astrology, telepathy, the sixth sense, religious prophecies, supernatural forces, and clairvoyancy; therefore for that reason, it's unlikely that the conclusion of these test results can meticulously determine an exemplification of a truly genuine schizotypal without the presence of paranormal beliefs. Hypothetically speaking, a Schizotypal personality disorder can only co-occur with Asperger's syndrome/HFA if the high-functioning ASD individual has collective ideas of reference, exhibits bizarre perceptual experiences (not better accounted for hypersensitivity or sensory defensiveness), and is superstitious with paranormal phenomena that is beyond their subcultural norm, and many people with ASD's hardly, if ever, adhere to a particular subculture. The DSM IV and the ICD-10 states that the coexistence of both ASD and Schizotypal personality disorder are mutually exclusive.

It is only considered schizotypal if it is outside your cultural norms.

ETA: As TheRedPedant93 already said, I see now. So I guess you can discount your experiences if you're in a religion/cult/sect.
