I read somewhere that autistic/aspies are more likely to commit rape. Although I disagree with the article, I could see that an Aspie accused of rape simple misunderstood sexual cues? And thougt the person wanted sex whn he/she actually did not?

What's your take? I hope this isn't a stupid question lol

Also*** Part 2 of the question. Does more aspies = less crime?

How exactly are autistics and aspies more likely to commit rape in comparison to the general population when it's quite obvious that isn't true. If one aspie does do that then prejudice people come in to hone in on that and make it much bigger to say "See, these aspies suck!" where as the majority of rapists aren't aspies.

Where is the article you a mentioning.

I also highly doubt that. Our inability to read sexual cues doesn't mean that we see clues where there are none, we simply don't see the ones that are there. The idea that we would go out and rape people also runs contrary to our avoidance of social interaction in general and physical contact in particular.

I personally think Aspies are less likely to commit violent crimes like assault, murder, and rape, but things like hacking (black hat), fraud, and other "intelligent" crimes can attract us.

An aspie with an obsession for collecting software or music files, and has a keen knowledge of the internet may engage in an excessive amount of unauthorized downloads.

I'm just speculating.

Thinking we're different.

Worst crime of all.

I think aspies are more prone to stalking than NTs due to their more extreme obsessions. I think an important difference between aspie stalking and NT stalking is that I don't think aspie stalking is meant to harm anyone they just want to be with that person.

That's not actually a crime, despite what the entertainment industry want you to think. Unauthorised use of a copyrighted file would usually break a civil law, but it's not criminal. This means you can technically be sued if enough evidence is found against you, but you can't go to jail over it.

What crimes are they more likely to commit, anything based on their special interest. I have seen enough articles about it. Hacking into the computer system for UFO info, stealing a bus and taking passengers to their stops and driving the routes, stealing a subway train and driving it, and stealing light bulbs from a home.

If an aspie is vulnerable so they are easily pressured and manipulated into doing anything, they are more likely to commit a crime like this teen did with weed because some undercover cop pressured him to giving him it.

I am sure they can be charged for assault too because if they are having a meltdown or a shut down and an officer grabs them, their automatic reaction can result to hitting them. Same as if they are touched from behind even if they aren't having a meltdown.

I have to admit, I have committed many crimes over the years, as has everybody else. Practically everything is illegal.

If @$pies are on the wrong planet, would not anyone hypothesize that there is life elsewhere?

Fraud, blackmail, hacking and minor assault are the main ones - and probably the only ones that somewhat have the potential to be caused by Asperger's.

As far as the cases of Adam Lanza, Martin Bryant (maybe even the Tsarnaev brothers and Harris and Klebold) and all of that go - there's almost definitely more going on than just Asperger's. That sort of goes without saying, though.

That must be quite scary for a woman, knowing that she wants to knob the hell out of an Aspie guy but he clearly isn't reading it.

Im afraid I see a lot of this as wishful thinking on the part of the aspie to be quite honest

Oh, s**t. Yet another idiot who feels that it's okay spread an insulting, entirely inaccurate, and incredibly harmful stereotype about people on the spectrum based on ONE incident, involving ONE individual, who was obviously very disturbed.

In future, I suggest you think about the potential harm your ridiculous statements could have before posting them.

I have read a Dutch article about autism (not only Asperger) and crime:

http://kleinehans.nl/wp-content/uploads ... Autist.pdf (De boze autist - the angry autist)

Percentually autistics tend to commit less crimes generally than NTs, with the exception of arson (setting fire to buildings and other objects) and sexual crimes, such as rape, sexual harassment, sexual assault, paedophilia, etc.

Autistics are likely more loyal to the law and rules of the country or world they live in. The higher percentage of arsoon may be due to preoccupation to fire and burning things. Probably they do not have terrorist reasons or do not intentionally cause damage. About sexual crimes, this may due to lack of empathy and failure to read signals: thinking that it is appropriate to touch a woman because of her supposed signals, while actually the woman is not interested. I myself do not approach women for that reason, because there is no way for me to be sure if I can touch her.
