I was a blue baby too! I had to be born 3 weeks early via cesarean section as the umbilical cord was around my neck. After being hung upside down and slapped on the backside my pulmonary system was found to be in good condition and focus switched to my digestive system.

I was born at 42 weeks 9 lbs 7 oz way too big for my mothers small frame so she had a c-section. I didn't walk until 18 months.

I was born preemie at 26 weeks and wasn't breathing when I came out. I was in the hospital for 4 months and on supplemental oxygen til I was a year old; I strongly suspect the combination of an underdeveloped brain and oxygen starvation contributed to my AS.

I was 3 days late, normal delivery but my mother always told me what a terrible experience the birth was. No mention of distress to me though.

I was born blue! I don't know why, but I do know that I was on a respirator for 24 hours.

I was born full-term and completely normal except that I was "sunny-side up", as in face-up instead of face-down like normal. I was pink and had no issues except jaundice.

I was born white.

My mom had to be induced, and the doctor had cut too deeply, causing her to bleed heavily and for me to bleed out (likely almost completely.) I had to have cord blood transfusions, and the doctor told my mother that she would never talk, never walk, and 'should be put into an institution' as I 'would be nothing but a vegetable.'

Fortunately she didn't listen to them, and I was able to gain these skills with her help.

I'm guessing the lack of oxygen might have contributed something to me being on the autistic spectrum, likely it being a trigger.

I was very sick before birth at 5 months from a virus (for a month before I was checked). It dried up all my amniotic fluid, which stunted my growth and put me in fetal distress. My mom had a cesarean section nearly two months later so I was born at 1 lb 8 oz.

I was pink soon turned brownish from yellow and red jaundice. I was given one IV through my neck for formula, antibotics, blood drawn...I was in the Neonatal intensive care unit for 4 months before I could go home for the first time. Even after my birth the doctors warned my mom of serious complications (severe intellectual disability, maybe not walk or speak) but they could not guess much.

My mom said I experienced one or two lapses in breathing after I was born.

I had an infection in my lungs. I had to be taken by helicopter to a hospital with better technologies. Heart lung bypass machine for a couple weeks. And yes, my mother said I was blue when I came from the womb.

Eh, this probably isn't a coincidence then. Has it been proven that birth conditions affect how the mind works later in life?

I was hypoxic at birth, meaning that I was not getting enough air even though I was getting air. I was never in the NICU.
