Hello. This is my first post. I just want to ask: Do you ever find yourself thinking very hard and asking yourself ( not out loud of course because if I do that then people will give me a "You are VERY weird" look) odd questions such as:
1)If someone asked to expect the unexpected, doesn't that mean that I'd be expecting the expected?

2)Who named all the planets anyway? And why did they name it those?

And other things....

Good questions. Yeah, language creates its own traps -- like why do people drive on parkways and park on driveways, and that one about shipments in cars and cargo in ships (which is not always necessarily true). Seriously, for me, I've come to embrace contradictions. That's the way it goes...

As for names of the planets, often pioneering scientists who discover the existence of such celestial bodies see fit to attach names. For a more advanced explanation, I found this to be of help:

I think some of the planets are named after gods arent they?

Why do people refer to even numbers as odd? e.g. "I've lived in the country for 40 odd years". It is contradictory since 40 is an even number!

I've been asking myself philosophical questions since I was a little girl. I would go to my mum crying when I was about 7 saying that I was sick of the pattern of life, sleeping then waking up, days just going on. NT's just seem to "be" and never seem to think of their physical and life related philosophical issues.

I've had a thing for the universe since I was about 6.

Planets are named by the people that find them, I think, and often after things like gods or words with other meanings.

Technically, if you account for the unexpected, then it is part of the expected. Thus, everything can be expected to certain degrees, some more than others of course.

Which is why I account for emergency money in my budget so I don't go too low. I have been trying to teach this to my mother. She has yet to catch on. Humz.

The priest at my childhood church used to get a very pinched look when he saw me opening my mouth in public, but in private we spent hours on ethics and "for want of a nail" games.

"More than one way to skin a cat" means there's more than one way to get some particular result that you want. I suppose it's a bit like saying "there's many paths up the mountain".

So the reference to animal cruelty was entirely unnecessary?

I understand the meaning, but I don't think I like the person who came up with that analogy.

sound really gross to me. What kind of people come up with those?

Also, why are buildings called such, if the process is complete? Weird.

Well, humans tend to use base 10 to do their math. Numbers like 41, 42,47 and 49 are NOT divisible by ten and have a remainder. And when doing math, when one has a remainder, it is an odd (possibly from the even-odd and divide by two scenario), even if the reference number might be even or if the actual number is even (like if they've lived in the country for 46 years).

And then there's the fact that many NT humans like to contradict themselves...
