Even though there is a children's forum here, no one has posted in the Kids' Crater in over a month. This is because children are few and far between on this site. I am feeling uncomfortable with my naîveté, and I am just at a different stage of knowledge than most of the members of this site. I think I am just too young.

Chris, none of us want you to leave.

I, too, have noticed that it seems like there are less children and more adults on this page, especially recently. It's odd, because I feel like one of the younger ones, and I'm 21. I can understand how you feel out of place, but we all enjoy your posts. You can post about anything you want here. As someone else said, many of us still have a childlike mentality, after all.

Also, if you know of any kids who would like to post here, you should invite them! I go to several other forums, and whenever AS happens to come up, I advertise this place for people to check out, too.

Anyway, if you are uncomfortable, we can't make you stay, but I sure hope that you decide to :) .

Chris, I appreciate very much your candid post. I don't want in to influence your decision in any way, but, for what it's worth, here are my $0.02.

It saddens me that you want to leave. I count you among the members whose contributions are the most valuable. Even for an "old dog" such as myself, many of your posts were quite inspirational. I actually envy you your level of maturity. (You can get a pretty good idea how I was at your age by reading "The Curious Incident".)

As for the "grown-up issues", some "mature" adults here are reading them while holding their breath, and get depressed when they realize that they could have learned about these matters earlier, but missed their youth playing with Legos and computers. Maturity is not equivalent to age.

Chris, I would miss reading your posts on many levels. You are cheerful and clever. Insightful and mature. And a far better speller than me. Hehe. And I would miss your poems. They blow me away!! ! Maybe you are feeling like making company with more people of your age. That's propbably a good thing. But please don't leave wrong planet for feelings of not fitting in. As you can see you have a big fan base amongst us oldies. I was wondering if the members your age don't post much because they are more inclined to private chat.

:P Stick around mate ... us oldies are inspired by the young ones here.

For your reference, please note that the terms of service have been updated to incorporate the policy regarding acceptable behaviour.

The person that asked about pot use/drug use would be discussing illegal things, at least, for a U.S. based server.. I wouldn't allow that man.

Honestly, I'm one of the youngest here I think. I joined today, @ age 13 and I feel right at home. I personally believe that there should be more youth, I came to this site looking for a niche, I felt pretty much alone, but this changed as soon as I placed my 1st hesitant topic on and got a really warm welcome from people. I like it here, and I believe that Wrong planet is a terrific place that Aspies can belong too. Don't go!

Here in Australia, they can say any word on TV, and the only words that can't generally be used in a PG or even G timeslot is f*** and c*** (unless it's combined words that make sexual references or whatever). Duh I hate these rules.

Most kids at the age of five had heard f*** anyway, and kids get bullied at aged 12 if they don't know what c*** means anyway, and they're just words, but that's my opinion.

There has to be a line drawn somewhere for what is classed as offensive language, and surely, if the majority are offended, or if it is for protection of minors, then there should be a ban on bad language.

What is bad language? I use the rule of, 'Would I say it in front of my mother.'

It doesn't matter, they have a filter here anyway for what they consider to be swear words, so as long as you don't intentionally evade them, you should be alright.

WrongPlanet.net is a family friendly community designed to be appropriate for all ages. We respectfully require that no swearing is used in posts, no violent or sexual imagery is used, and that posters be aware of our many younger members. To ensure a positive environment, no personal attacks are to be made against other members. If attacks are made, we will be required to remove the offensive content.

The policy regarding acceptable behaviour on the forums is as follows:

Personal attacks, which include insinuation, ridicule and personal insults, regardless of whether direct or indirect, are not allowed on the forums.

Aggressive, or offensive (i.e. sexist, racist, homophobic, etc), behaviour intended to provoke or belittle other members or groups of members is also not allowed. This also applies to Private Messages.

This will be formally enforced as follows.

A member who has committed an offence will receive three warnings by PM from a moderator.

The member has the right to know what caused offence and why, and a record will be kept on the moderators forum so that we can keep track and avoid individual bias.

The offence is cancelled if the member makes a genuine apology if no offence was intended or was on impulse, provided the member does not continue to provoke or upset others.

If three warnings are recorded and the member behaves uncivilly again, they will be banned for one week.

Further violations of the policy will lead to further action by the arbitration committee.

Also, we believe in freedom of speech, but because of online child protection legislation, we will sometimes be forced to remove content that is innapropriate for children. Also, we will remove illegal content such as serial codes, and copyrighted content (only content that is not covered by fair use guidelines, however). Thank you for using WrongPlanet.net.

are these still "the rules"? if so, are they still being implemented?

I don't think people like being told how to do their jobs.

is that what i'm doing?

well, it would be helpful to me if someone could say that to me, if it is the case. and it would also be courteous to receive replies to PMs.

i will in no way knock what the mods do - it's a thankless task, much of the time - and i applaud the job they do, in most cases. i am simply puzzled as to whether the rules above are being implemented, as i cannot see that they are, in one particular instance.

i believe that the rules are there to make WP a safe place for any and all, and so my query is out of THAT concern, and not (as i'm sure i'll be accused, whether overtly or not) out of my personal political agenda.

if the rules weren't there, people (including me) here would have fewer expectations.

I don't want to see anyone get banned. However, it would be nice if certain persons (not naming any names) would be more respectful towards others. I fear that Malcolm Scipio is leaving this board as the result of abuse and that is unacceptable. Abuse must not be tolerated.

If mods are not issuing warnings, at a bare minimum, then they are clearly not doing their jobs, and as much as I hate to say it maybe it is right if Vetivert does tell them how to do their jobs.
