Oh yeah, maps! I've always been into maps, too.

My first one was logos of all types: airline logos, television logos, and logos from familiar stores and places. I also loved anything in a series and had an encyclopedic memory for these items. For example, we had a huge map of all of the different flags from each country and there is a video of me at the age of 3 naming them all instantly and correctly. I wish I still had that talent. :(

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

HVAC vents, I remember when I was a kindergartener, and I would look up on the wall or ceiling and see the return air vent and shout "HEEDUR!"

Lathes. Manual or CNC, does not matter. When I was little, I would spend much of the day watching my father turning all manner of things, it was very intriguing and mesmerizing. I always enjoyed getting to help him and learning whatever I could.

My preschool and kindergarten obsessive interests were my collection of stuffed monkeys and counting (by ones and by other numbers like threes and sevens). I'm not sure which came first.

When my son was around 2, he was 'in love' with the Monsters Inc DVD cover - he used to carry it with him everywhere and kiss it :) It was all he would watch over and over...
After that it was The Wiggles and Batman

I don't remember it myself, but my first word was 'meowmi' (cat) so I'm guessing that was my first special interest. (I did not have speech delays, so I was about 1 or so.) We had a mother cat with four kittens, so that probably was a lot of fun for me.

We had a cat with a litter of kittens when I was 2. I loved to play with the kittens. One day the mother cat got mad and chased me into the house. I hid behind the sofa and my parents were looming over me trying to figure out what was wrong. House cats can seem very big when you are small, but that did not stop me from going back and playing with those kittens.

Hmmm. The earliest special interests that I can remember are probably maps and houseplans, both of which I'm still obsessed with. I also remember being quite obsessed with the pleats on my school uniform and the rubber soles on my school shoes. Still gives me a thrill thinking about them. Weird, I know!

Hmmm I don't remember a lot of obsessions. I did some weird things with barbies though. And I taught ants how to swim. And I cut worms in to the middle, so they wouldn't be alone anymore.

This movie - The Teddy Bears Picnic - might count as an obsession. I wanted to watch this movie EVERY single day for a very long time, it drove my parents crazy!

Oh and when I was a bit older, from te moment I was able to write: I wrote stories, every day! And drawing, painting, etc. But somewhere along the road my creativity got killed.

When I was little, I was obsessed with trains, art, and maps or atlases.

The first interest I remember having was trucks and airplanes, with trucks being the main focus. I used to have loads of truck toys and models, and a few toy planes as well. This was when i was between 4 and 9 years old,

Earliest I remember was photosynthesis, nutrition, dinosaurs and cooking. Today cooking and nutrition still interest me. This was when I was 5. I don't remember what I might have been interested in earlier than that

I remembered not long ago that another very early special interest I had was for pinwheels. Like several special interests I've had, it was a special interest that sort of branched off of another; in this case, my special interest in Winnie the Pooh. There was an episode of The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh where Piglet was afraid to go outside (I think that's why Piglet's always been my favorite Pooh character; he's just so relatable  ) because of the wind (he's so small, he gets blown through the air) and Pooh gives him a pinwheel. Later on in the episode, Piglet notices Pooh getting blown around by the high winds, and puts aside his fear to go outside and rescue his friend, using his pinwheel to fly thru the air helicopter-style. I think that's why pinwheels were such a fascination for me; I regarded them as magical things that helped you to fly. Whenever I got a pinwheel, I'd go outside on windy days and hold it up so I could fly, too.
