Same here. I was a bit chunky as a child and became a bit heavy after failing in my first attempt at college. Sadly, I was constantly teased about my weight (in grammar school, middle school, high school and college).

Shortly thereafter, I decided I need to change. I changed my eating habits (following a rather bizarre diet consisting of chicken patties, soda and chips) and began exercising. I lost ~ 40-50 pounds. 30 years later, I am at the same weight (I am pretty thin). But, like you, I worry about the smallest change. I weigh myself several times a day, unwilling to go back to that past experience (of being heavy + teased). It was quite unpleasant.

I have extra meat on the bones but l don't feel unhealthy. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week and travel by bike mostly. Weight seems to come of me very slowly. I have trouble trying to balance calorie and fat intake, plus l could do better with the foods l eat.

When l was at school l was very conscious about my body because other kids verbally abused me for my weight. Now, l don't let my weight get me down or bother me.

Big guys cuddle best!

There are reasons for this that do not involve what women or men are inherently like.

People who are thin can be unhealthy and people who are fat can be healthy. The explicit and direct correlation of weight to health is mostly a matter of societal prejudice and institutionalized hatred, primarily against fat women but to some extent fat men as well.

Part of this is justified because people see being fat as a choice someone made, as something they did to themselves, but so is smoking and you really do not see the same levels of condemnation and hatred directed toward smokers.

So, given that hatred, it would not be out of line or unusual for an autistic person to be weight conscious, especially if their weight has been used against them to justifiy bullying and hatred.

People also fail to understand that certain kinds of food and meals are somewhat cheaper (convenience foods) than what people might view as "healthy foods." I mean soda is cheaper than milk or juice, for example. But people on a low income are judged for eating "junk food" because everyone else thinks they're a moral authority on what poor people should eat, plus the overall fat hatred that permeates society.

And women tend to worry about their weight because everything from movies to television to magazines to even comic books present images of thin women as the ideal, which goes along nicely with that institutional hatred I mentioned earlier. If one's not sufficiently perfect, one learns to hate one's body (and this is not just applicable to being fat).

I'm on 3 meds that have weight gain as a side effect. So I'm watching it obsessively.

So far I've dropped 7lb. :)

If even then. My dad and uncles all seem to be skinny even though the youngest is 60. We're not really big time junk food junkies, but neither do we pay close attention to what we're eating (beyond "hey, this seems like it'd be very tasty" rather than "mmm, junk food") at any given time.

I am.

I've been as out of shape as 242lbs w/ a 38" waist ~5+ years ago.

I'm currently 6'2" 189lbs @ 10.0%bf & trying to get to 200lbs @ 10.0%bf or less.

I've become much more conscious of what I eat and how much exercise of various types I get and it's making me much healthier for it - and health is wealth.

Also, I have some really big goals in life and I'm not going to give myself a fighting chance of achieving them if I don't continuously improve my mental and physical health - so, those goals & other things keep me motivated to push myself to be bigger better faster stronger smarter healthier and just keep moving forward! 8)

I am extreamly conscious and deeply ingrained in my thinking ever since Grade 1 when my weight became the common attack of choice of the school yard bully. I natually have a very negitive body image becouse of this, I am very self conscious of that. I am 6 foot something at around 168lbs, the lowest recomended weight for my size however too still heavy for my likeing.

I was the opposite of most people in that I was pencil thin and was psychologically bullied by the obese kids (boys and girls) in school. To be fair though if I were Chinese it would be been that and if I was a Jewish it would be for that as well. In short, ANYTHING would have been used against me and (lack of) weight was the thing I had that few others did.

Well do you have a good one in good health. Given your age, wouldn't that not take a couple decades off of my life and maybe add a couple to yours? Lots to think about here before one can make such an important desision.

I could definitely stand to lose a few because I've become sedentary. I'd like to blame the depression and the gout in my legs, but in the end, it's really me to blame. I just have to eat more. Since my legs have been weakened, I can't jog or walk like I used to. That's when a gym will come in handy.

<--- Come on, boy! Suck it up and get in some exercise!

About 53kg. Might be 54kg since those two days I had nothing but pizza.

I'm more conscious on building up some muscle mass.

I'm pretty thin but don't want to be above 55kg (120lbs I think) and I'm pretty short.

People tell me I look good or even that they hate me for being so skinny, but it takes a lot of effort. I'm now focusing on being healthy and strong. My camera bag gets heavy.
