I go through phases of being able to eat bread, like for the last month I've been ok, but this week the very thought of bread makes me feel sick.

Same with milk. Sometimes I'm ok with it, other times I can't stand it and drink almond milk instead.

Anyone else have any similar experiences?

I have a suspicion that it has to do with bacteria, sugar or yeast in my stomach not being in balance and I knock it with over-indulging in bread and milk, but I'm not a dietician, so I don't really know.

I noticed my main issues are pork and chocolate. If i eat over a certain amount in a week, I end up very sick. I've had less issues with the bread and dairy. How much can you eat of the in a week, OP?

A lot of aspies have problems with casein, which is a milk protein. It makes me sick.

On an ok week I will have 2 slices of bread with soup for lunch and 2 slices of toast at night with some spread as a snack. Maybe another 2 slices if I'm feeling greedy. But if I do that consistently for 2 weeks or more I start to feel ill and can't touch bread.

Milk I have everyday at work in a coffee or 2, but if I also have it with my breakfast cereal it or if I eat cheese alot that makes me feel sick.

I can't eat bread if I'm cold and hungry. Say I'm shopping in winter and stop in a cafe for a snack, I can't have a sandwhich or I'll feel sick. And I hate sandwiches with very little filling. I have to have a full sandwich with lots of lettuce so that the bread doesn't overwhelm the whole taste of the thing.

I have no problem eating bread and milk, and in fact it is what I would consider "safe foods" to eat if my stomach was upset. Of course, I do have issues with a multitude of other foods, such as yogurt, caffeine, carbonated drinks, any seafood, meat that is at all still pink, etc.

Bread and milk don't have any negative effects on me at all. I can eat almost everything without my body reacting to it in a negative way. The only thing I keep away from is sugar-free mints, because it always goes straight through me. :)

I have no problems ingesting bread or milk.
I don't have celiac disease or lactose intolerance. The latter in particular is very rare in Scandinavia compared to the rest of the world.

I only have problems if eat these too often I find. If I ingest milk a couple of times a week or in small amounts each day I'm fine. Anything more than that and it does affect me. I make my own bread now at home instead of buying it and I have found that I can consume more bread in this manner. Plus I also know exactly what has gone into it when I make it.

I only have a problem with milk if I drink too much of it. I can eat cheese to my heart's content, but drinking actual milk too much upsets my stomach. I can put a small splash of it in my coffee and I can sometimes get away with eating cereal with milk. Forget drinking a milkshake.

Bread doesn't like me much. I do better with white bread - anything wholemeal will just have me on the toilet for a long time. Even white bread bloats me, though.

No gluten. Stopped IBS for the most part by not eating it. To afraid to experiment to see if I can have little bits of it.

Lots of milk can make my stomach messed up, so I only have that in moderation.
I can't live without bread, though. It's my staple and I eat it constantly.

You should check to make sure you are not lactose-intolerant... Many people are, and you're not doing yourself any good if you drink milk and can't digest it.

Me--I have no problems with milk or bread. Both are nutritious and make up a reasonable part of my diet.

Callista, I certainly wouldn't want to rule out some aspies having lactose intolerance, especially those of us of non-European descent. I've read that the bigger problem for aspies is casein. What drinking milk did to me was make me feel like I had a thousand pounds on my shoulders. My leg muscles would start cramping up. It got so bad that I would have to stop and rest my legs to walk across a supermarket parking lot. Now, I'm back to walking several miles a day with no problems. But milk never bothered my gut at all. I'm guessing my problem is with casein, which is a milk protein rather than a milk sugar like lactose.

I can't drink too much milk or have too much dairy because I'm lactose intolerant.

I'm not sure about bread. Too much can make me feel bloated but I do otherwise fine on it. If I haven't got it in me to cook myself something I always just make myself a sandwich.
