Didn't really figure this all out until I was in my 30's, just thought I was weird or whatever. Same kind of deal as greeneyeszengirl, except I was homeschooled for quite a while (pulled from 1st grade halfway through, dumped back in at about 6th grade). Nothing but issues with NT-designed schools, didn't see the point of homework and always aced tests I was interested in, and completely flat failed ones I wasn't, almost never got a C unless I manipulated my way up from a fail (which was usually only based on the "following curriculum" parts of a class, not the actual learning). Commonly found myself elevating to a position more like a tutor or teacher assistant even if not given such invitation, commonly disproved teachers (they don't like that). Preferred to keep in the "easy" classes so that I could focus more on extracurriculars or whatever I was focused on that month, was placed in a few advanced placements but semi-intentionally failed since those classes usually had more "busy work" and homework. Prefer to meet new people, even over current friends or family, probably as legwork in my quest to figure out how to be more NT. I've gotten very good at emulating NT over the years, but it has never come naturally at all. I tend to have bouts of social anxiety to where I don't go outside or to the store unless it is a dire need, and I work on the Internet so that practically enables my behavior (normal jobs, I would eventually not show up a few times and get canned, I am not inherently compatible with other peoples' scheduling).
