Help with services for 7 1/2 yr old ASD child

My 7yr old son Blake was finally formally diagnosed with ASD level 3 requiring substantial support yesterday. I am overwhelmed with looking all over the Internet for help in all area's. I honestly have found nothing useful. Can anybody please help me by telling me where to start please? We live in California if that matters, and I have very little income also. I was also told to apply for social security for him. Has anybody done this? Any and all replies will be greatly appreciated.

My second concern is disapline for him. Should I do things different for him?

If your son is autistic, even said to be in need of support others might not be, I would suggest you avail yourself of any and all services he's legitimately entitled to.

I'd phone Social Security if I were you and explain the situation. Ask them what your next steps are.

I also wonder what Autism organizations there are in your area. If you can't find anything just doing an internet search or checking phone listings, I'd ask the specialist who diagnosed your son, and also try looking to see if any groups with a national presence might be able to give you information on local services.

I'll see what I can come up with, and will post any results here.

At that level, I'd be hiring an attorney versed in both Social Security and Developmental Disability law. Let the attorney handle the filing and appeal process. Most attorneys working with Social Security law work on a contingency basis, meaning that they don't get paid until you win, then they take 25% of the back pay, up to a maximum of $6000. You might also have to pay any records copying fees, depending on the law firm.

My parents have an attorney that has overseen all my stuff.
Clinics, testing, therapy special schools all that.
I was prolly at least level 2.
