My Theory:

TYPE ONE:

* The "Stereotypical Aspie"
* "Calculator Type"--Math & Science
* High IQ, SAT, etc.
* Poor LTM, good STM
* stims are for calming
* more often male
* more socially impaired.
* less outwardly empathetic.
* more grounded and "down to earth."
* poor ability to communicate through emotional connections and to recognize facial expressions.
* Feels emotions more internally, feels less of them, controls behavior better.
* Actual "Genius"
* Tend to be straight, gay, or nonromantic asexual.

TYPE TWO:

* Chameleon and Multipotentilate (aka "Renaissance Person.")
* "Encyclopedia Type"--Visual/performing arts, humanities, psychology, language
* Low to average IQ and SAT scores
* poor STM, eidetic LTM (almost perfect)
* stims are part of a creative or a thinking process.
* Often "borderline" or NT-seeming
* tend to be female.
* more outward empathy, able to "read" people by emotions & expressions.
* Dreamers & Innovators.
* More prone to meltdowns.
* Perceived "Genius."
* tend to be bisexual, biromantic/panromantic asexual, transgender, genderqueer

For me it's a little mix of both types but mostly type 2.

I'd say;
* Chameleon and Multipotentilate (aka "Renaissance Person.")
* "Encyclopedia Type"--Visual/performing arts, humanities, psychology, language
* High IQ, SAT, etc.
* poor STM, eidetic LTM (almost perfect)
* stims are for calming
* tend to be female. :lol:
* Often "borderline" or NT-seeming
* more outward empathy, able to "read" people by emotions & expressions.
* more grounded and "down to earth."
* More prone to meltdowns.
* Actual "Genius" :lol:
* Tend to be straight, gay, or nonromantic asexual.

I fit in to both categories. Almost half of type one and almost half of type two describe me when put together.

Type '1.5' :)

I'm type two. That makes a lot of sense. When I read about Aspergers syndrome it always says abouit being good at maths. I'm like "But I'm terrible at maths!" I'm more of a creative aspie :)

I'm predominantly type 1 with a smattering of type 2.

Low to average IQ for type 2, only a perceived genius compared to an actual genius for type 1 and mostly female?

Anyone else notice that?

Or is it just me?

I am in the category that is not in the 'mostly' part.

Had an IQ of 140 + in my teens (no idea what it is now, not measured it properly in years), good at science and math but also studied the humanities, literature, drama, media studies and so on. I am female.

Got that too, bumble. Might be a coincidence?

This is complete nonsense. The second type is just an NT who is a bit quirky. The second type sounds like your average performing arts student.

The first type is a stereotype, although at least it could be a description of someone on the autistic spectrum.

Autism is a communication/social/sensory condition, right? Or is it just a condition for any left-leaning, quirky hipster?

I agree with you. Some of the items on the type two list are contradict the DSM criteria. I think broadening the spectrum is a slippery slope. Soon everyone that is a bit quirky will be labelled with some kind of disorder.

I'm a bit of everything. Terrible at maths good ltm. But my Stims are more for calming and I can't read facial expressions and my emotions are inside. I also sometimes draw cartoons, I'm terrible at socialising and was 'friendless' until fairly recently. So I'm a bit 50 50.

Also I forgot add I also think this is nonce nice as most people seem pretty 5050 and some of the stuff in the second one isn't really in the diagnostic criteria

I believe for the purpose of selecting a type here that I am a type 1. Although I am quite talented with painting and sculpting.

What do STM and LTM stand for?

These lists seem more telling of gender stereotypes than anything. I am female and I have a high IQ. I had high SAT and ACT scores. I was good at math in school, a bit better with language and literature but still very good at math.
