Seems I get to pick my meds... O.o
Seems to be SSRIs and similar.
Mainly for alleviating some anxiety/OCD and depression (OCD is kinda drug refractory though, but that's one thing they're for).
It gives you more of that "happy" stuff that you probably had more of as a kid.
They're nothing serious or dangerous, other than if it works, you'll know it when you stop taking it.
I've been on...Sertraline for a long time now. Prescribed for OCD and Panic Disorder; it seems to help the latter, or perhaps I got over that naturally. I'm unsure. I know that when I lower the dose, I get more anxious.
I think that's the main thing with taking these chemical helpers. Starting is easy, stopping can be harder (especially if they work -- who wants to go back to that?).
(If you get some weird behavioral changes, it's probably because you don't need any more serotonin in your brain.)
To all those who posted here thank you. I would like to ask if you could be more specific on the changes you noticed... particularly when it comes to any form of social anxiety.
Like I said earlier, mine is really weird. I don't feel anxious or nervous at all. I can go up to a girl and say hello which I assume someone with social anxiety would be sweating bullets or having a panic attack. However, during the conversation there's the mind blanks, uncertainty in conversation flow and such... but i dont FEEL nervous or anxious. Physically though, I do notice my body does tend to have a shaking in my neck similar to when you have a shivering cold..its not visible in the sense that people see my head vibrating ( XD ) but I do feel it and its damn annoying and my voice gets a little shaky from time to time (though again I dont feel a.n.y.t.h.i.n.g. ... not nervousness or fear or nothing). Its on this particular area that I think maybe these meds could help... and if they do perhaps it might also fix something else. Weight loss side effect would be most welcome
Its interesting this topic, walked into my shrink's office one day with a single peer reviewed article for Paliperidone, a Respiridone variant... Walked out with a script for the stuff... Woot!

Gonna agree with everyone who said Wellbutrin. I've been on Effexor, Lexapro , Cipralex.
Never gonna try SRI or SSRI medication again. Had loss of sex drive, leg cramps, dry mouth, trouble sleeping. Effexor helped alot on my anxiety and made me alot more outgoing - made me feel "high" and very alert but simply wasn't worth all the side effects. Also SSRIs are addicting and you feel completely depleted of energy when you stop taking them, making your depression worse. Wellbutrin doesen't do as much for anxiety - which is the reason I also take busporion. The combination seem to work very well for me. I've had no bad side effects from Wellbutrin. My sex drive is higher than ever sleep at night, I'm better at executing task, having routine and feel generally more motivated. I would advise you to also start working out while in out for increased effect.

Wellbutrin also can help with weight loss due to it having mild stimulant effects. Honestly I think most people should try Wellbutrin before being put on SSRI's.
