I love Red Dwarf! I prefer the earlier seasons, though- 1-4.

As far as I'm aware, the main difference between HFA-ness and Aspieness is speech delay; HFA's started talking relatively late, Aspies were "normal" or early in this respect.

That's weird....I couldn't talk until I was 3, and I was diagnosed with AS. Though that was back in 1992....

Well that's part of the problem with diagnosis because those doing the diagnosing aren't necessarily experts on the autism spectrum. So then you can have people on the spectrum, but they may be given the "wrong" spectrum diagnosis. Delayed speech could be HFA or even Pervasive Development Disorder. But then again maybe you had some major Aspie-like traits that lead your diagnosing dr to label you with AS instead of HFA. Even among Aspies there is a huge variation in what we have difficulties with. I don't think it will be an exact science until there is some kind of medical test for it like maybe MRI or PET Scans, DNA testing or possibly a blood test.

most regular autistic people are too low functioning to have normal conversations and use computers.

What would be Aspie traits that are not also HFA traits, other than so-called "talking like a little professor"?

I've concluded [by viewing this forum] that autism and Asperger's are one and the same...one is just used to describe someone whom has a much harder time functioning in modern society, i.e., their symptoms are "worst" (not to say that those with Asperger's have it any "easier" in reality, far from it).

Most everyone here says things that are similar to how I think, the words are ordered differently obviously; but the meaning is still there....

It's social (collective society also) retardation; not intellectually.

(It's funny, I don't see how conversing via typing can be considered "socializing" or hard, and I like to think that I can get by adequately when talking to people through this written medium, and I’m a full on autistic individual.)
