Aspergers and jaundice
Will try to condense this story. Friend has aspergers and has had jaundice off and on several years. Its very bad right now worried he might die.
Initially worried he was a closet alcoholic. Later as read about autism, worried he is trying to overcome sensory overload and other symptoms with alcohol but never saw empty bottles in trash. Later thought maybe he is on meds damaging his organs. Later came to believe he had a rare condition called auto brewery (yeast in stomach converts foods to alcohol to get you drunk - legit condition but very very rare)
What i want to know
1. Is it common for an aspie to drink alcohol to cope w symptoms
2. Any input you might have as far as whats going on with him
#1. No more common than normal on the alcohol thing, empirical stuff kind of suggests it may even be less common because many with ASD don't like messing with their brains much.
I haven't heard of any connection between ASD and jaundice.
It's not likely that the meds caused it, that's why it takes a doctor to get a prescription, they're supposed pay attention and monitor for that kind of thing.
#2. How could we possibly have any clue what's wrong with him? It could be anything.
Even the doctors on here couldn't guess without examination and tests, and if they did that, the information would then be confidential and they couldn't tell you.
Doesn't he know what caused it? What does his doctor say is the reason? Has he seen a doctor?
If he's not telling you, then maybe he wants to keep it private.
I'm sorry for your friend, and for you.
All you can really do is make certain he goes to a doctor, and the only way you can do that is by nagging.
Good luck.

That would depend on the local congregation. Searching on Google, you get the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Church of Christ. The United Church of Christ is a who led different animal, coming from the German Reformed and Congregationalist churches. The UCC also claims the Pilgrims as one of the founding sects of the denomination.
From what I can make out of the Disciples of Christ homepage, they do serve communion weekly. I can not find anywhere on their home page whether they use wine or grape juice in the Eucharist. I would hazard a guess that the use of wine or grape juice would be a decision made by the local congregation, just as it is a local decision for a lot of other denominations.
