I wonder if NT's in general actually know what NT is?

I certainly didn't know what NT was until about a year ago and I've associated with NT's all my life.

With that, I probably wouldn't pass as NT, I probably just pass.

No babybird. I don't think they know what NT is. I think you've got to be part of the ASD community to know the term exists. A huge percentage of them don't even know what an Aspie is. I know because I've got the tshirt :)

They just refer to themselves as normal. Lol

Most people don't think they're normal though, it's very common for people to say they think they're different or weird.

I'd like to think that I pass for NT, but I actually have no idea what people think of me in that regard.

This is has always been challenging for me. What I mean is, most people think I'm just a normal person. It's a struggle because when I really need to alert those of my special needs, people give me that strange look or feel as though I'm lying to them. It really sucks because I actually fear places like dentists and hospitals due to the fact that no one understands my needs very well.

I think it's probably more common than I realize for others. The thing is that, my autism is only triggered by my constant rush of emotions. If something upsets me, I can shoot off into oblivion and have one of those full fledged meltdowns. That's the only way a person should know that I'm not typical at all. However, it's not always the case because some find those meltdowns as bratty or attention-seeking, even when it's nowhere near being that way. :/

This for me as well. Plus, there are many everyday terms that someone could use to describe my behavior - weird, odd, quiet, loner, strange, obsessive, introvert, perfectionist, inflexible, rigid, stubborn, etc.

Those have been words used to describe me.
I believe that for my age group unless they know someone on the spectrum they would not know what nuerotypical or aspie mean, at most might vaguely remember hearing the word Aspergers somewhere and have only the most basic stereotypical notions of Autism.

I cannot pass for NT (or what NT people would probably refer to as simply 'normal'). Most people these days know just enough about ASDs to realise that I am probably on the spectrum. Those that don't know about ASDs or don't have an accurate enough understanding still view me as different, odd, and probably with a condition which can be diagnosed (though they don't always know how to label me themselves and frequently label me as a part of whichever group they personally have the least respect for).

I can never pass for normal. I used to believe I could, but it was really wishful thinking.
