Good luck with your study! It sounds like a great project.

Done.
Good questions for a change. I've seen some stupid survey questions before, but these were reasonable.
Though I can't figure just what you're looking for in the survey.

Given the focus and repetitiveness, I'd say the researcher is looking for a percentage of those who have autism who aren't comfortable with having it, that feel shunned and believe themselves to be failures. It also delves into genders to see if people with autism conform to the stereotype of their sex.

Done. Although the gender parts where a bit confusing, especially the gender group questions, didn't really get it but I hope I answered as accurately to myself as possible.

I'm doing the survey right now but I don't understand these grade things. I'm not familiar with schooling terms outside from Canada.

I noticed that the ethnic choices are very UK-centered. "Are you White, and from England Scotland or Wales, or Northern Ireland?"..."Are you White, but from the rest of Ireland?"..."Are you Asian (ie "Paki" Lol!)". There is African, And then its "other".

Basically: are you British? Or are you Irish? Or are you from that OTHER place (the whole planet beyond the English Channel)?

To an American thats a ludicrous and laughable way to split the World up.

I thought WTF? Put "other". And wrote in "mostly German American"!

On American government forms I would just check "White", and informally i call myself "White bread Wasp".

You may have to custom tailor this test to different parts of the English speaking world.

Also- I kinda lost patience with it. They keep asking the same question with slightly different wording. So I bailed partway through. Maybe Ill go back to it. Maybe thats my fault.

Hi all,

Sorry for my extremely late response. Firstly, thank you all so much for participating so far. I have nearly 100 men and 100 women with autism who have participated now which is awesome, if anyone else would like to participate to boost number that would be wonderful.

Naturalplastic, you're right about the areas - it was just designed in the UK so is UK centric, but we should have thought about how international our sample would be and adjusted accordingly. Sorry you lost patience - unfortunately to make questionnaires a little more robust they do tend to be quite repetitive.

Andrethemoogle, that's understandable - sorry again for not taking into account non UK participants.

Jacoby - please could you PM me your email address and I'll add you to the list to send our results to?

Kaiouti, I'm sure your responses were just grand, thank you for taking part.

tbm1986 - very accurate conclusions there!

Thanks again all!

Hate surveys (they're confusing and frustrating to me), but I somehow managed to compel myself to finish it.

Ok, happy to do the questionnaire but why the emphasis on sexuality?

I took it. The sexuality thing was interesting; I'm pretty sure that the symptoms of autism transcend those differences. But it'll be interesting to see the results.
