I had my diagnostic testing back in May, and the doctor told me that she would mail me the results. Here it is August 1, and still nothing. I've called the office several times, and keep being told that it takes a while to compile all the information. But how long does it really take to score a few tests, analyze a couple of interviews and type up the results? These people are supposed to be Asperger's specialists.

Has anyone else had the same experience? How long did it take you to get your results? I think it's weird that she's mailing the diagnosis rather than having me come in, but maybe it's because I live 3 hours from the testing site.

You might have to keep in mind it's summer now and people might be on vacation etc. I'm getting assessed now as well and we've had to take a two month long break (one month to go) due to the psychologist's vacation plus the fact that she needs to score all the tests, write the actual report, talk to another specialist etc. Perhaps that's what's taking so long for you as well?

I got the overal result pretty quickly but the advanced results I am still waiting for. I was also helped in May. I have called a few times but my psychiatrist is on vacation. I have been told it is like writing a small book. You have to be really patient, and that is not one of my strong suits.

But in general I hear it often so it seems normal that it takes so long. Hope this helps out.

Normally takes a few weeks max in my experience. Sounds like they're busy or on summer vacation.

I didn't think about summer vacation. Thanks! I'll be patient a little longer. If I wasn't also waiting for a settlement from the opposing insurance company from an accident I was in -- it's been TWO YEARS now -- I'd probably not be so antsy.

I was diagnosed in late August and received my diagnostic report in November

I'm guessing yours was mailed as well? What was in the report? How long was it? Was it a letter or a report or what? The office told me it would be a couple of page letter, but it's taking so long I'm expecting a doctoral thesis.

It was mailed, it was a report, and it was 15 pages long. It was useful to me in putting things all together and in making me understand what executive dysfunction is how impaired I am in that regard. It reinforced what I knew about my social difficulties. It had recommendations.

If you have paid good money to your advisers, then you should be entitled to a good service. Any autism expert in the world should be aware of the urgent needs of self-diagnosed sufferers in search of professional support. If I went to a carpet shop and paid for new carpets, I would not expect to be told two months later that the carpet fitter has been on holiday ever since he or she came round to make the necessary measurements.

I agree! This woman is supposedly a well-known autism specialist -- Kathleen Loveland, in case anyone is interested. You'd think she'd be as speedy as possible on getting this done. I didn't go through all this testing and worry for fun. Maybe it's her assistant that's the problem. This guy -- can't remember his name now -- is an actual psychiatrist, and he is the one responsible for compiling the report, and then is to submit it to her for review. And 15 pages? Wow...if it something that big, I can understand why it taking so long. But I've gotten so aggravated I almost don't care anymore....grrr
