Not sure what others think of the creaky bed noises while I'm doing this
My sleep schedule has always been screwy since I was a little kid. Always a tendency to stay up all night, go to bed around 4 or 5 a.m., not fall asleep till sometimes 6 or 7, and sleep till 3 p.m. No matter how I try to set my alarm earlier each day, it doesn't help me fall asleep any earlier, then eventually I get overtired and say the heck with it and don't set the alarm, and I revert back to the way it was.
That's the schedule I'm on right now.
In the summer it's not too bad as there's still daylight left but in the winter it ain't gonna work to wake up at 3 p.m. when the sun goes down at 4:30
ETA: My naturopath says there's about 10% of people for whom valerian does *not* work! I am one of those. I used to buy the most potent valerian extract I could find and take it in hopes it would help me back up my sleep schedule and/or fall asleep faster as I tend to toss & turn. I always felt that it didn't help me, but kept taking it as I read so many times that valerian helps insomnia. I remember one night I had to work early the next day and was getting desperate for sleep that I just kept taking dropperfulls (
) of valerian and I felt like I was getting jumpier & more wired. I told this to my naturopath and he explained that yes, for roughly 10% valerian makes them more wired and edgy. When he said that the shoe dropped for me and I never touched the stuff since!
Just thought I'd add my little story in case someone else has tried valerian to no avail!
