I put 'superpowers' in quotes since what I mean is odd things those of us on the spectrum seem to be capable of.

I noticed that I seem to have this uncanny ability to find people on the spectrum or who may be on it. More often than not, I seem to be able to find people who are Aspies, autistic or otherwise not NT.

It's been my experience that most of us seem to have a spectrum-radar of sorts. Some of us can guess more accurately than others.

My "superpower" has always been my ability to quickly formulate precise and compelling arguments, but it really applies to most anything where pattern recognition is paramount.

My superpower is that I can channel the adrenalin of anger into logic on overdrive, making connections far quicker and with greater precision than when I'm not angry.

I'm sorry, but this is too funny when you combine this quote with your signature.

I suppose my ability to do so well at posting in forums and being so insightful as they say....when i have profound classic autism....is a savant ability.

i think being able to put up with how some people on this forum talk about us folks with 'classic autism' is more of a superpower. :P

A while back, I found the following "advantages to the neurological differences of being a person on the spectrum" posted on Aspergersmom's blog <click>

- Single-minded focus
- Integrity/Pure Motivation
- Honesty
- Original and Independent Thinking
- 3D and Visual Thinking
- Higher Fluid Intelligence
- Detail Oriented

They all seem to apply. At least for me.

Note: Edited for clarity.

Having superpowers does not make you a God. Even superman is vulnerable to kryptonite.

^^^This.
Not superpowers of course. Just strengths.
Though I see no reason we shouldn't celebrate our strengths and even call them superpowers if we want. It's better than focusing on weaknesses.
Some autistic individuals have savant abilities like eidetic memory that are really superpowers. I sure don't have anything like that.

Edit:
I also have spectrum radar.
Manipulative people are my kryptonite.

I can spot manipulative people before they can manipulate me.

I'm like this too. I always seem to have this radar when it comes to knowing if someone is on the spectrum. However, it also depends on how the person is acting.

I suppose my special ability is my written expression. I've baffled both my psychiatrist and primary doctor by typing things on my iPad in total explanation and having it read everything I write on it. This has made it much easier for me to explain something rather than trying to do it verbally where it's much more of a struggle. I'm often choking on my words, losing track of what I was explaining and pausing just to get the words to reach my mouth. D:

Another thing I've noticed is that I have a way of focusing carefully on something and being able to learn more about it. If it becomes an obsession of sorts, it's easier for me to learn about it and what not. Also, another thing I've noticed is that I'm an auditory learner. I can focus on the TV by hearing what is going on or having my iPad read something aloud to me as well. It makes learning easier for me if I can listen to something rather than use any of my other senses to learn how to do something or whatever.

I think most people are always baffled by this is because they don't realize how intelligent someone is, despite the fact that they have a very severe or profound form of autism. I know I've run into tons of people online who find it hard to believe I'm autistic because of how well i can type things or express myself through writing. There's so little awareness towards people on the spectrum, and it really sucks a lot. :/

Eh... I guess I remember nearly everything I learn. Not a superpower.... but it is fun to freak people out.
