I do not know if this is a common problem, but I am very sure that this comes from having "Aspergers Syndrome". It is skipping words when typing, or even writing. When I go online and post a message somewhere, or I decide to write something on paper, I make this mistake which occurs very often. That is skipping words, so for an example, if I want to write this on my post:

"James decides to go to the gym this morning.".

I may not see the mistake which resembles a missing word in the sentence and I might not even notice it while thinking that I "Wrote that part already". Or sometimes I may even repeat one of the words in a row on sentence like this:

"James decides to to go to the gym this this morning".

I don't know if this comes from Aspergers Syndrome and if it does I don't think it is common. Do any of you have this problem?

I do that all the time. I even do it in speech sometimes. I have to constantly proofread. I even find that I skip entire phrases in written text sometimes. I don't know if it's an Aspie trait or not but I know that I do it and I do it all the time.

I do this all the time! I need to proof read my posts much more than I do. I think it's because I easily get distracted -- I often have the TV on in the background, and I only need to momentarily hear a word someone is saying and boom, I briefly lose my train of thought while typing, and later I find there is a missing word, or a repeated word like that "to to".

Yeah, I find myself skipping words in posts sometimes - far more commonly than I repeat them. I used to be scrupulous about proofreading posts and checking that it was grammatically and structurally sound, etc. Back in the old days (when dinosaurs roamed the planet and that), I used to post exclusively on a site which not only didn't have an edit function, it also didn't have line breaks. Well, line breaks were thankfully introduced at some point, but an edit function never was. I used to write long posts too, even longer than I do now; proper walls of text.

Nowadays it's all I can do to produce sentences with full stops. I mostly don't spot my mistakes until after I have posted, then I hastily edit my post.

I do that all the time. I'm not dyslexic but I seem to have these little dyslexic moments where I misspell words and switch around letter but I ha no reading comprehension problems or any trouble in school with English or anything it's just when I'm writing or typing on my own.

I think it's fairly common to miss or repeat a word. Particularly a post on an online forum is not really important enough for some of us to be that careful. I sometimes do that, too. I also see missed and repeated words in other people's posts, too. I often make that mistake when editing a sentence. I wrongly assume that a certain word is already there or is not there and end up missing or repeating it. I also often miss the word 'know' in 'I don't know' for some reason.

I believe it could be related to some of the autistic traits such as an executive function problem although I do see the same kind of mistake made by non-autistic people, too.

I see a lot of misspellings among NTs, but not usually skipped words/phrases.

However, among people I suspect have AS, including myself, I see many skipped words and phrases if they are writing or typing quickly.

I have been wondering myself if this is an AS trait.

When typing I always will capitalize the letter A if it is the second letter of a word. Example "rAndy"

The Squid thinks this touches nearly everyone. NT or not. At the very least, this sounds like more of a symptom of Dyslexia than anything else.

I do it too. Sometimes I also type something different when I am trying to say something else.

Everyone does that.

You get caught up in what you're writing and skip words. Sometimes its the most important word (because you assume that you MUSTVE typed it already).

"There is evidence that the Moon is made of green cheese."

And its only when I proofread that I realize that I left out the word "no" before the word "evidence".

Or you type- pause to think- go back to writing- then realize that you repeated the phrase you typed just before you paused to think:

"The OP must be " - should I call him a lying scoundrel, or call him an idiot, or call him psycho- naw- I have to be polite- "missguided".

Then you realize that you wrote "The OP must be the OP must be the OP must be very misguided if he realy thinks that the moon is made of green cheese."

Everybody makes typos. I see it everywhere. Why do some Aspies think NTs can do everything perfectly?

I hate it when I miss out an important word in a sentence, and then the sentence means the opposite to the point I am trying to make. Like say if I intended to write ''I am not being racist, but....'' but I miss out the ''not'', so it looks like this ''I am being racist, but....'' :wall:

I know I should check my posts before submitting, but I'm too lazy to read through what I've just written. I just notice the annoying typo after I've submitted, or worse, after it has got many reads and replies!
