Hey everyone.

So I'm in the latter stages of diagnosis, and since I left my last job due to struggling to fit in, I've had a hard time funding work.

This in itself I can sort of handle, but now my mum locks me out of the house from 8:30 to 2, and threatened to kick me out unless I got a job.

So since I pretty much had nowhere to go, I have been trying to find a job. But now one of her friends has got involved, and now mums stance has changed to "I'm kicking you out, despite you trying to get a job"

She won't listen to reason, and I essentially have nowhere to go.

Any advice?

Do you have any temp agencies you could do day labour work via in the meantime so that you're at least working & she might not kick you out?

Sounds like your mother thinks she's doing what's best for you.. forcing you to find work and support yourself and all that - but - it also sounds like she really doesn't get it (ASD) & has no concept of the challenges you face.. if she did, she probably wouldn't be doing this.

There was a time my symptoms were very strong and I couldn't work and I know I really frustrated my parents, but as much as they didn't understand exactly what I was going through, they at least didn't kick me out when I needed a place to stay. I've since managed to minimize my symptoms (via diet/herbal cleansing/probiotics) and have been working for the last year and a half or so and am in an OK place financially. Health is wealth.. get yourself as healthy as possible and everything else starts to fall into place. I used to be unable to work & had great difficulty finding work.. now I turn down job offers I don't particularly want. Life is night & day different for the better compared to a couple short years ago. I share this because even though things might seem like crap right now, that doesn't mean they always will be - your future is not dependant upon your past any more than mine is.

Talk to your Priest, Minister, Pastor, or Rabbi. Even if they don't have any leads on jobs, they should at least know where the local shelters are. They'll also know how to connect you to social services and food banks and such.

Well today was the day I was kicked out. I went to the local council offices, and I'm going to be accessed for supported living, and I can stay home until then

I really hope that your situation improves soon.

I volunteer at a soup kitchen every Tuesday and there are times that I wonder if any of the clients are spectrumites who have been kicked out of their home by their parents before they were ready to live on their own.

I hope you get the help and services that you need.

I was quite lucky because the council member had a grandson with AS, so she could relate

Can the supported living people help you with finding a job?
What skills do you have? Maybe people here could help by suggesting things that you might be able to do.

I'm sorry these people treated you like that.

I hope you get housing soon.
