Hi Girlwithaspergers,
Regarding physical causes for your migraines, while you're much younger than I am, I can tell you what helps me. And it wasn't pills, because I used to take Excedrin but that ended up making things worse.
1) Epsom salts. I put between a teaspoon to a tablespoon of Epsom salts in 1/4 cup of warm water, then use a cotton ball to rub this mixture on my face and temples. Be careful not to get any in your eyes ... it really stings. But otherwise, it's a very soothing, calming experience and I learned it can help if you have headache pain to make it feel better ... and through research, that it can help prevent future headaches, too. I originally started washing my face with Epsom salts in water for a skin condition, and was very happy to learn that it also helps with headaches, gives you energy, and can put you in a good mood.
A couple of reasons why Epsom salts work: It contains magnesium, which most people don't get enough of. It contains sulfate, which I read somewhere helps those with autism.
You can take Epsom salt baths a couple of times a week, too ... treat yourself to spa days. In which case, 2 cups of Epsom salts in your bath is typical.
2) Improve your diet.
Sounds too simple? Think again. Like with the Epsom salts, I changed my diet to help with my skin condition ... and guess what? It helps prevent headaches and helps me feel better in other ways, too. The main things on the diet are to avoid sugar, refined and processed foods, cow's milk, and to instead eat more leafy greens, fish, yogurt, lentils, coconut milk ... I can go into more detail if anyone is interested.
As for your original question, thinking about it, I would not lie to the doctor because I would not like the side effects from the medication. I would try to find another way to cure the migraines.
Hope you feel better soon,
...
