How about Germany? People there seem hard working and predictable.

I was there a few times I was enjoying it. They have dependable public transport and their big cities are not that crowded and loud as cities in Poland. They environment is also way cleaner.

But maybe it's just my feeling because I was visiting tourist cities: Ahlbeck, Dresden and Freiburg.

I couldn't talk to many German people but from what I heard other people feel Germans are: "organized, lack imagination, disciplined, lack sense of humor, stiff, funny when drunk, can't party, goody two shoes. Good looking but sum up - boring".
Sounds pretty "Aspie in NT opinion" to me.

Interesting. I heard somewhere that universities are tuition free for international students there too so that is something to consider, thanks for the input.

That is true in many Lands of Germany. However you should prove sufficient knowledge of German for this - by complex tests like TestDAF.

However while tuition is free, accomodation is not, and in many cities it's rather expensive, especially in Munich and Hamburg. It can easily be say $1000-1500 per month including everything from students bus ticket to housing, food and schoolbooks.

Thanks for the information, I read in the same place that I heard about the free education that students are not forced to speak German and actually can get by okay like that.. I guess that doesn't apply to all institutions though.
Obviously if I wanted to fully integrate I'd learn German though.
And of course I wouldn't expect to leech off the system like that, I'd need to probably land a part time job too as I've most likely only got enough funds for around a year of stay as it stands.
Anyway this is all theory as I have too many problems I'd have to deal with before thinking about things like that unfortunately.

Austria is nice and a bit more Aspie friendly than Germany but I still wouldn't recommend it to anyone. My recommendations are Denmark or Switzerland.

I think I would do well in Svalbard.

The recommendations of Denmark really shocked me. I assume that the people who made these are unaware of what current policy is operative there.

The Danes are actively working to eliminate all people with Down's Syndrome and have recently announced that the weeding out of suspect foetuses is proceeding so well that people with this will soon be eliminated from Danish society. If this isn't state policy and practice of eugenics, then I don't know what is. There are many accessible articles about this. When the last Danish Down's has been eliminated by their focused abortion programme, which group will be next?

This makes me remember what Dietrich Bonhoeffer said about the men doing nothing to help others thinking they would be personally exempt..the same men who ended up saying in the next cell "and then they came for me..."

The idea of leaving the anglosphere is quite frightening but I feel I have no chance here as everyone hates me simply for being abnormal.

Maybe you should learn more about Canada? I've read not once Calgary and its neighbourhoods are relaively good places for Aspies. Never been there so can't prove it.

I've lived in two countries, South Africa where I was born and New Zealand for the last ten years. I've been to Australia a lot as well. I travel to various Pacific Island locations for work purposes on a regular basis.

I would strongly recommend New Zealand. I would also recommend Auckland simply because it is the biggest city and there is a certain anonymity about living in large cities. Wellington is a very classy urban city too. You get the best of all worlds because Auckland has the big city life appeal but then its not far to go and you are in beautiful countryside.
New Zealand has no social benefits for a person diagnosed with Aspergers, so keep that in mind. If getting a job and keeping it is not an issue for you, Auckland has all sorts to offer.Wellington as well.

I agree with the post that didn't think Australia a good bet. I find Australians to be uncompromisingly loud, extrovert and assertive. I'm probably being very unfair to many Australians who don't fit this description; apologies. I find New Zealand society to be a lot more well mannered, polite and softer spoken. Again, I know some people in New Zealand who are just the opposite of that. After all, as a person who is born and bred South African, I deal with the stereotype of what a South African is, so I guess we need to just be kinder about each other.

I guess it might be more about finding your own particular niche in whatever country and society you ultimately choose.

I wonder what are stereotypes about South Africans are? In Russia there are two - either white racist (Apartheid, you know) or violent black supremacist but there are very few people here who ever seen a single person from South Africa.

By the way, is the high level of crime in SA is truth? I mean - can you walk freely at night in any urban distritcts?

I left South Africa nearly ten years ago and have never been back. My mother lives there so I do get to hear from her what is happening there. The stereotypes you mention are the two key ones. The high crime level in South Africa is true and it gets worse all the time. In more recent times there have been a spate of xenophobic riots with some terrible murders. The African people of South Africa generally resent other Africans coming from further north and attack them in riots from time to time. In other words, the violence and politics of South Africa are not a simple race issue. Its a whole lot more complex.

I know it might sound a bit odd of me to talk of "African" people from South Africa when I am from South Africa. I call myself something other than "African" because my ancestral roots are entirely European. Having said that, I am very "African". I realised this when I emigrated overseas.

Anyhow, back to the main purpose of the thread, South Africa is not a good place to choose whether you are NT or Aspie. In fact, I would cross the whole of the African continent off the list. I know that sounds terrible but unfortunately it is the truth. Mauritius may be an option to consider, but that isn't truly Africa since it is an island nation.

I'm from Trinidad & Tobago and can tell you with all honesty & certainty that T&T is no place for an aspie. The people there are small-minded & ass-backwards. They have zero tolerance for those who are different than the majority. I know. They made my life a living hell while I was there. It's no wonder I spent an enormous amount of time avoiding people by walking up and down the beach alone.

I now live in Seattle. There are problems here - racial, housing, economic status, crime - but the city is still very accepting for those who are different. I can walk down the street wearing a flaming pink dress, glitter high heels and a silver wig and no one will say a word. I can walk down the street dressed like the Dalai Lama, the Sultan of Brunei or the whore of Calcutta and no one will say a word. Very liberal indeed.
