Yes I do this all the time and I used to think everyone did it but after a while I noticed people would get annoyed when they watched a movie more than once, but I have a tendency to watch movies literally a hundred times ( some of my favorites are: Hocus Pocus, Coraline, Vampires assistant, On the town 1949, Jackie chan movies, Tomb raider series and Treasure Planet). I also download my favorite videos from youtube (usually fanvids) and watch them over and over because they give me shivers and I never get tired of them. :D

On YouTube I mostly watch music videos or clips from movies/tv shows.

As a kid, I watched the crap out of the Memphis Belle and Milo and Otis. My family hates Milo and Otis now haha. The last movie I watched in repeat was the 13th Warrior (a couple days ago, might pop it back in tonight). I've seen the Stargate movie and show a billion times, Willow I have memorized, Ever After as well, have watched Star Trek multiple times, and Star Wars... etc etc...
I won't even get started on the books I've read and how many times I've read them. The list is too long and I've lost count.

Yeah I often go on youtube to watch an anime opening or listen to a track of a game I like.

A great website for music is infinitelooper.com. You can let in run in background without worrying about anything :)

I'm listening to a song on youtube on repeat right now. There have been times when I listened to the same song literally for days. When I first put Frozen's "Let it Go" on my ipod, I listened to it for three hours straight. The song is 3 minutes 36 seconds long, I'll let you do the math. I also re-watch movies and my favourite episodes of TV shows frequently; I've watched almost all of the episodes of all the different Star Trek series more than once. I'm close to having watched every episode of Voyager (172 of them) at least twice, some as many as six or seven times. During my Peanuts cartoon phase, I watched the same 20 minute episode, "Someday You'll Find Her Charlie Brown" every evening for a month straight. I find returning to familiar films, with their predictable scenes and dialogue, to be very reassuring and relaxing. I do the same thing with books; during the second semester of 12th grade, I read Laurie Halse Anderson's "Speak" eleven times.

My youngest daughter (who has numerous autistic traits but is not diagnosed) used to watch two movies ("Wizard of Oz" and "Mary Poppins") every day when she was younger. She easily watched each > 100 times.

When I was younger, it was different. While I used to watch a lot of TV, we didn't have as much choice. We simply watched what they broadcast.

I have been hooked on Serenity, Avatar and Hanna, plus a few other movies since they came out. When I first bought them I'd watch them several times a week. I still watch them a lot even after all this time.

Music is one of my main obsessions. I listen to music most of the day. It's not unusual for me to listen to the same cd over and over again for hours or even days, especially a particularly great album.

I've watched seasons 1-3 of Spongebob Squarepants so many times that I've learned some of the lines to most of the episodes. The odd thing is that I seem to remember inflection in their voices rather than the lines themselves. Is that an autism thing or do NTs/allistic people remember that better too?

I used to watch videos and play records over and over, but not so much these days. I might re-watch videos a few times to work out what the plot is, because I usually lose the plot if I just see it once. And I might wind the tape back and re-watch sections of factual things until I get what it's on about. I still play records more than once if I like them, but I don't play them to death like I used to. These days, if I do that, I quickly get to a point where I don't enjoy the song any more, so I purposely avoid too much re-listening.

Yes. This definitely a thing. I try and keep it manageable, sometimes with success.

Binge listen to orchestral music or simple violin or piano music. Modern music is highly weak and overrated.

BeggingTurtle, I love the music and artwork of Hayao Miyazaki's anime films; they're beautiful and relaxing. I didn't like Spirited Away though, I found the plot confusing and a little disturbing. I don't like Alice in Wonderland-type plots where nothing makes sense; the unpredictability makes me anxious. I also found a lot of the characters and settings to be just plain creepy. My favourite of Miyazaki's films was either My Neighbor Totoro or The Borrowers.

I think a lot of autistic people are more auditory learners. My autistic friends and I all scored very high in auditory when we did a test. I'm a very musical person and if I hear a song once I can remember exactly how it sounds but I can listen to it 100 times and still not be able to pick out most of what they are saying. It could also be because many autistic people (I could be mistaken, but this is true for me) say they don't really think in words but rather in feelings and shapes and stuff.

My current repetitive thing is an audio book about the history of Greek civilization. It is like a bedtime story for me. I start it when I go to bed at night and listen to it while I fall asleep. It plays throughout the night so I wake up listening to it also.

It is a bit like a "Once upon a time" story that keeps my brain from spinning off into AnxietyLand.
