Alex they do refer to autism as an epidemic, in fact they named a fund after it, the Autism Epidemic Awareness Fund.
"Doubling Federal Spending on Autism Research: The Race Is On
The Republican National Convention has just ended and both major party candidates are in place. The presidential race is heating up and the Autism Epidemic Awareness Fund is committed to making autism a part of the debate, demanding that the federal government double autism research spending."

Another item from their site-
"I am the parent of a six-year old boy, Tyler, who was diagnosed with autism at age three. I know firsthand how devastating this disorder is and I urge you to help us find the causes of autism, effective treatments, and hopefully one day a cure. The autism community is united in an effort to gain funding for vital autism research through the Department of Defense appropriations bill. Autism research remains underfunded and we need as much new federal support as possible to tackle this disease that has increased tenfold in the past decade. Please support this initiative that will help unlock the mystery of autism."

That is a sample email that they ask people to send out, they are claiming that the autism community is united, they claim to speak for us, yet they are NT parents, and they do not represent adults on the autistic spectrum.
Also, autism is not a disease.
