Today starts my first day in costume and I'll remain that way until Sunday morning, choosing a different one each day.
I tend to prefer superheroes and sports figures. Sometimes I'll combine elements like I did last year to make "Wolverbat".

Next to my August birfday, Halloween is my second favourite event to celebrate each year.

Halloween is, or at least used to be, different where I'm from. It's called Hop Tu Naa. Here's the top line from the wiki page:

"Hop-tu-Naa is a Celtic festival celebrated in the Isle of Man on 31 October. Predating Halloween, it is the celebration of the original New Year's Eve (Oie Houney)."

It has it's own song, money was collected instead of sweets, and we'd carve turnips instead of pumpkins.

It has changed since I was a kid though, with more kids saying trick or treat than singing the song.

Hmmm. Making New Years' Eve into a another costume event sounds like a quite fun idea! The money part makes it even more interesting. To update Willy Wonka's classic quote, we could say, "Candy is dandy, but dollars create hollers!"
I think I'll pass on the turnips, though.

In that case, I'll revert to Wonka's original saying, "Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker!" :drunken:
Thanks for your costume complement. I hope to have some more exciting pics from this year.

Just to add, the Naa at the end of Hop-Tu-Naa is pronounced Nay.

As I don't celebrate the 4th of July, Labour Day, or Columbus Day, I figure I get three extra days of Halloween. So I wore this outfit all day today (Wed. Oct. 28th). I call the character "Spidermacho"...

And I eventually had quite a lot of fun in it despite having to start my day out in it getting my booster HPV series shot.
Also, thanks for that pronounciation tip, Kenny, I wondered why a holliday that sounded like "Hop Tuna" would be observed by slicing up turnips...

I love Halloween. I live in Sweden in Europe but we have started to celebrate Halloween too. I love the costumes and ths spooky athmosphere ( I am always spooky of course... it seems ).

My girlfriend has made a bed sheet filled with handprints that looks like blood. Looks weird hehe.

Besides Thanksgiving, it's probably my favorite holiday of the year, I haven't dressed up as anything in a few years, but I probably will this year. I take that back, last year I worked in a haunted house, but all I wore was a Jason Mask while I worked the controls on a fake semi horn to scare people. As a kid some of the better costumes I wore were Jango Fett and a Ring Wraith. I like to carve pumpkins as well, here's a cool one I did two years ago, take a guess of what it is:
Image

I'd like to be Frank the Rabbit from Donnie Darko, but there are literally no masks out there for it. I might just settle with being a Wraith.

Of all the holidays, I'm partial to Halloween too 8) Autumn is my favorite season, especially the colors and crisp weather. I'm not doing anything special for Halloween though - maybe watch a horror movie in my new apartment??

Amazing video, EzraS....thanks for posting.

My special character for today was "Superhooper", a special blending of superhero with sports figure, my two favourites...

Still two more days of costume creativity left...yay!
