At least for me, they cause too much sensory distraction and distraction while walking.

Ideally for me, they would be replaced with trains, trams, and fenced bike paths on fixed routes that pedestrians wouldn't have to cross

We can rid of all the noisy cars and replace them with eco-friendly hybrids.

I see what you mean, but I also meant that they cause too much distraction while walking

A few cities have already banned cars to reduce pollution, noise and congestion, so maybe it will happen everywhere eventually - at least in the bigger cities.

:D Anything else we can do while we're at this?

Maybe something a little easier first? How about the color of the sky?

Won't be happening in my city! Everything is too far apart. Try some irlen lenses for your sensory issues. They might help.

try drinking some herb tea or taking black seeds or black seed oil for your sensory issues..... herb tea worked with calming me, and i hear black seeds help a great deal, too.... banning cars is unrealistic..

I still didn't explain fully - they would be replaced with trains, trams, and fenced bike paths

I think it would be a stupid idea. I can't take public transport but I can drive. There's plenty other people like that too, and the opposite way around. So it would never work.

I'm all for cities of bike paths.
The reason I don't bike everywhere is the cars who might hit me and run over me.

Yes, so am I! Some cities, such as in the Netherlands, are designed around cyclists, and this idea is beginning to spread. But at the moment it's quite dangerous to cycle in big cities, even those that have bike lanes; some motorists deliberately make life difficult for people on bikes.

I think there just need to be separate areas and channels for vehicles, bikes, and pedestrians. Traffic needs to be filtered away from places where people bike and walk. Some people need to drive their own vehicles, but they could park and walk or ride public transport in certain areas.

My car's twice as powerful as a prius & cleaner. Look outsude cities and you'll soon understand there to be NOTHING clean about nickel metal hydride batteries. Honda hybrids at least use Li-Ion which can be a closed-loop material stream but most hybrids are absolute BS. Drive a manual &/or ride a bike.

This. I'm a gearhead and I'd love nothing more than for my city to ban cars. We aren't really big enough to need them beyond our major roads and I'd rather see the taxes spent on bike infrastructure. Also I think people get impatient when they drive too much, and it carries over into other settings.

I can do both but yeah transit only pays if I get a free pass - otherwise I get ripped off to sit behind some ghoulish chainsmoker and choke on fumes just so I can get wherever I'm going 40 minutes late. Or not at all, as is often the case.
