Really I hadn't imagined you with any specificity.....except that you are your avatars!

Strangely, I slightly consider us all as related (Aspergian kin).

If someone describes their appearance I will imagine what they describe if it is concrete enough....but the image I come up with is generally more like fragments of a person with very obvious blank parts -- or a sort of kaleidoscope of such image-fragments (with blank parts) that match the description, shifting always because I have no idea which image-fragments might come close to any part of what the person actually looks like in reality.....well, maybe it's more like a mosaic than a kaleidoscope, with all the tiles/pieces of glass changing constantly and shifting around a bit to accomodate the changes, and some big blank spaces where tiles/pieces of glass are missing.

That's how I imagine 'real' people

Does "'real' people" mean people you have seen before in person (or in a photo or movie)?

I consider 'real' people as those whom we encounter everyday (not pictures or film actors or characters).

Okay.

I was just wondering if you were talking about a visual processing/visual recall thing, and thought if it was that maybe you'd imagine people in photos or films the same way.

i just see their words. i do not take any notice of their avatar with respect to my impression of them.
some young males have pretty female models as their avatars and other people just choose a generic one which means nothing, so i pay no attention to them as an indicator of who the person behind them really is.

i also do not spend any time trying to imagine the members as actual people because i have no personal investment in internet communication, and i am just responding to other words and i am interested to see what words are generated in response to my words, but who they are from or the personality behind them is irrelevant to me.

It runs the gamut: from folks who are just disembodied voices from beyond to folks who are quite vivid in my minds eye (even if the image might be less than accurate).

I know it's weird but I see everyone on here as superheroes with various superpowers at their disposal.

I imagine them as their avatars. I know that's not what they actually look like of course, but it's how I imagine them. I like that thought, just like I like 'being' a ninja turtle here.

Surely someone has started a thread on everyone describing themselves? That could be interesting!

I don't imagine the other members. They are words and thoughts to me and nothing more. Those words and thoughts are important to me. But, that is all that is important. I never thought about this until I read the thread title.

There is one in which everyone described themselves. Many posted pics of actors who theyve been told they look like.

And there is another thread of "post your pic" in which many post actual pictures of themselves.
