My friend Olympiadis, another poster on WP, created my avatar for me. We both love Star Trek, especially Voyager, and he made my avatar as a nod to my adoration of the character Seven of Nine, who has many iconic one-word expressions, of which "elaborate" is one of the most frequent.

Do you mean "elaborate" as an imperative verb?

Or as an adjective?

Love the avatar. Star Trek (The Next Generation) got me through one of the hardest times in my life. I've been meaning to binge watch Voyager when I get some time.

Mine is "Pig" from "Pearls Before Swine." He bumbles through life but is an innocent. I am no innocent, but I do appreciate the naivety and outlook.

I just thought mine was funny, and kind of fits given that difficulty describing or expressing emotions is a characteristically autistic trait.

Mine is a woodcut print of Nuernburg's most famous citizen, Hans Sachs, who is immortalized in Wagner's music drama Die Meistersinger Von Nuernburg's.

Mine is a creature from my dreams, that wanders the southern vanishing road of the golden desert. I find them as a guide of sorts, that shows up now and then.

Oddly enough, the only emotion I can express is anger. If I get too happy, it's just all over messy and I get too overstimulated and can either go completely bonkers, bouncing off walls or just shutting down. Everything else is just my neutral face and most people think that's pissed off anyway.
Damned if I do, damned if I don't.....

Going to check out this comic strip. Pig sounds a lot like me. I used to read Bloom County back in the day. I have the complete series somewhere in my book collection. Probably going to reread that now as well.

Your avatar elicits a strong emotional response when I see it:) I can definitely identify with the look on that face when things aren't going as I planned.

I love Wagner's music but did not realize Die Meistersinger was about Sachs. That's cool to know. The first Wagner music I heard was from Tannhauser. It knocked me off my feet. So amazing.

I like your avatar and the story behind it is great. I am big on dreams and I used to really be into lucid dreaming. That was a trip.

Since you know 'Bloom County' (Berke Breathed is a genius, second only to Bill Watterson), Opus would be the closest corollary. If no Pig, then Opus would be my avatar.

My current avatar is a photo of a moose I took some years ago back home in New Hampshire. It's a connection to the "Great North Woods" region that I've always felt deeply connected to, not to mention my love of nature and photography both.

Great photo. Reminds me of my favorite TV show, Northern Exposure. It always opened with a moose walking through the fictional town of Cicely.

Yep....nice moose photo, too.

I never knew they ranged as far south as New Hampshire. I thought Northern Maine was the farthest south they go.
