I don't post very often but I feel like I need to know that I'm not the only one dealing with this. My misophonia is through the roof particularly in the context of my immediate family. When people make spitty, squelchy noises and eat with their mouth open making that sound like macaroni and cheese being stirred or maggots writhing in meat, I lose it. My rage is immeasurable when this happens and my father, in particular, seems to really enjoy how much it bothers me. Throughout my life the only way to deal with this has been to punch myself, scratch my arms until they bleed and/or beat something outside with a bat. When available, I use alcohol to calm the rage as well.

Do any of you also become enraged at these quiet (or not-so-quiet) mouth noises (especially from family members) ?
It has affected me my entire life and is only getting worse as my parents age and make more and more horrible noises with their mouths. Sometimes my father will even wait till he is walking past me and turn his head and make a few of the noises directly in my ear.

Please, share your thoughts and experiences related to this (or something similar) and if there is any advice to be given related to this I'd love to hear that as well.

I don't get bothered by those sorts of noises, but I have read that many others on the spectrum have similar difficulties as you. If possible, maybe wear headphones around meal time, or try to have a fan blowing nearby so that quiet noises are more likely drowned out by the sound of the fan.

In any case, I'm sorry that you suffer from this. And I don't know what kind of person your Dad really is, but as it pertains to this matter, he sounds like a complete dick

Thanks :) Yes I'm seeing a lot more posts about misophonia now and while I'm not glad that many of us deal with this I am glad that we can find common ground and commiserate.
