Wearing shades feels like it would help but I don't want to attract attention with those on indoors.

Could contacts help?

The only way shades help me with eye contact is that it makes it harder for people to notice that I am not looking them in the eye. I don't see how shaded contacts would help with eye contact, although that is a good idea for dealing with brightly lit rooms and the sensory problems associated with it.

ok, it's just I can make eye contact easier with shades on because a person's eye contact I guess come across as a threat in my brain and causes anxiety.

If I make eye contact and I know they can't see "into my soul" basically I can stare them right in the eye with shades on because I know in my mind they can't see my eye, clearly enough anyway.

I'm fine looking at people's eyes, I just don't want anyone looking at my eye. It's like they are entering my mind/soul without asking.

(cool you're into space btw. I just got my first telescope, an Orion XT10i)

People read others not from the eyes themselves but from the surrounding stuff like eyebrows, it's facial expressions and even some micro expressionists that allow others to know how you are feeling. If you don't want anyone reading you then your in luck, because for autistic people expression of that sort doesn't really come naturally and we are apparently quite hard to read.
