I have seen references to a conference specifically for people with autism, but I haven't seen anything since 2013. It's a great idea and I know people who would attend, at least on the East Coast. Anyone know anything about it?

There is something called "Autreat" in Colorado. It's run by a long-time member of WrongPlanet by the name of Vicky. I believe her screen name is VickyGleitz.

I've had nice conversations with her.

Why not a Wrong Planet retreat? I bet Alex's place in the Los Angeles area would work just fine!

ANI created the first "Autreat" in 1996, back east, in Pennsylvania, I think. There was some kind of blowout between the founder and some other person a few years ago at it and I'm not sure if ANI is doing Autreat, anymore. ANI has a listserv; not sure how you get on it, nowadays, but I think there's an email address on their website you can write to for help.

There's a member here who has been putting on autreat inspired events in the midwest as someone mentioned, above, which is a separate, unrelated event.

Yes, I sent an email to the one listed on the ANI website but no one responded. The listserves aren't active. Colorado is far for us...but it would be great to know more details. PA would have been doable. Comicons, Brony conventions, Anime conventions, gaming conventions, etc etc- I know many people with ASD flock to them but it's hard to really meet people and discuss AS related topics and activism, etc- I think there's a need for that.

ANI is secret boards within secret boards these days. Someone could maybe throw you a bone (I can't), though that's probably not likely to happen.

I don't know what's going on with Autreat. I tried to join the listserv, but never got any response. However, to meet autistic people, my psychiatrist, the one who diagnosed me (and with whom I'm engaging in a course of therapy) suggested the "Meet Up" groups. These groups have "meet-ups" for any one, various interests i.e. movie fans or gaming fans. I found a Meet-up group that consists of autistic adults. It's quite active and it's fun to do activities with other autistic people.

Ah ok, that's cool. There's one a ways from where I live, but I'm not sure what they do at the meetings.

FWIW, I happened to find what looks like the "new version" of autreat:
