meltdowns and emotional overload
Hi I have a question.
So an hour ago I had a conversation with my partner in which she said that I 'snap down her throat'.
I got really confused by what she meant. Every time I repeated the phrase I got a weird image in my head and it made me extremely distressed. I lost the capacity to speak properly, started hitting the table and even screamed twice. It didn't tip over into 'full blown' meltdown, but it was very weird. It was like I got stuck on this phrase and repeating it just made me incredibly angry.
I think it was a combination of not being able to understand, but also the newness of the metaphor/phrase and the intensity of the picture in my head.
I feel kinda like a freak.
Has anything like that ever happened to you?
Can communication problems/emotional overload send you into meltdown/shutdown?
