The differences between what you said I said was this simply:
You focused on the negative aspects to learn from others. I prefer to learn from the positive examples.
Having lived in places where I am the minority and have learned many positive things from my experiences of all cultures I have come into contact with, I just wanted to put forth the positive.
The addendum about my wife is that I have an intimate knowledge of the culture that you would not get from the outside. It was a way for me to show a concrete example of the positive while showing that culturally, the basics remain the same.
I choose to focus on the positive.
As for the actual thread, I just found it funny that the OP had to cop to not looking at the front page where there is a person of color featured. Are people of color under represented? Probably. Just as there are a lot of late diagnoses that do not get noticed because they 'already have' coping mechanisms or just live in the uncanny valley.
I also found it funny because there are all sorts of people here and we just don't know what their cultural background is until they let it be known.
Well said.
Reading the OP. This thread doesn't need to turn into a race card type of thread and the ignorant generalization and drama behind it.
I think someone can agree before a mod locks it.
