Where can I ask questions about autism
Are you already doing rodeos?
Have you ever heard of Temple Grandin? She is an autistic woman who invented a new and less painful way for cows to be vaccinated, among other things. You should read up on her.
Yes sir I team rope and ribbon rope on are school rodeo team, I live on a ranch and my dad was a roper and rode bareback before he passed last year I learned to rope when we would work cattle in the pens.
I will look her up we may use thing she invented

Yeah, things that I do day after day without any changes, I can just do them without thinking about them. But, If it involves changes (like with conversations or driving somewhere I don't usually drive), things get tense.
Hmm. You could ask Jonathan what he would like to do when the school year ends (or offer some ideas about things to do). That way, he could plan ahead about some new routines instead of his school routines. It might help shift his thoughts to something other than school.

I'm sure he's proud of you, though. Because it really seems like you'll be a good citizen as an adult.
Thank you I try to do what he would want me to

You have to teach your friend about the DANGERS of what you guys do. Especially the rodeo stuff. He has to be able to be focused enough to LISTEN to you.
Some of this might upset him at first. But it's an absolute. He has to learn how to do these things the Right Way, no matter how upset he gets when you're teaching him. Otherwise, really bad things could happen.
Until he listens well, I wouldn't really have him do rodeo stuff on his own. You know how dangerous this could be.

Part of being smart is knowing what you're "dumb" in. Everybody is "dumb" in something, no matter how "smart" they are.
I wish this guy Eric would post more often. He might be a guy whom you could talk to at some point. He's from the West, too, though I don't know exactly where.
I think he has experience in roping and such. And he's on the Autistic Spectrum.
it would help if I understood more how to help it's funny he gets in the tractor and they have all these computer monitors they even steer themselves and he figured out how to program them and even showed me things I didn't know they did but he can't explain how he did it' so I understand and the things he sees me do I can't explain to him. It's like we speak to different languages and one of use has to learn a new language.

Learn a new language, or just know somebody who understands the language already.

maybe this will help. with what I'm trying to understand my mom took a picture this weekend and we were looking at it I ask Jonathan what he sees. he told me he seen the red in the back the sand and a calf and the rope and that's it.
I ask what color was the calf he said I don't know. I ask mark a friend of mine he said I see a black calf you're trying to throw down and tie. brown sand so I know you're in a arena and you missing your right boot.I ask haley she said I see a black calf and you in the arena you're trying to throw it down in a arena with a look of determination

Ahh, now I understand. Your question is part of the Theory of Mind idea that some of us were discussing last week. ToM problems are common among autists because we don't understand what others expect us to understand. Jonathan's ToM sees the pieces of the puzzle, not the whole picture. Does he make similar piece-by-piece statements about other things, or is there anything where he can understand the whole scene and predict its outcome?
