I had a problem working at a pizza place because when people wouldn't come up to the window to get their pizza my manager would just say "Oh, I'll just walk it out to them, what did they look like?" Or "What are they wearing?"

And I would have to tell him "I don't know." And I'm pretty sure he always thought I was being uncooperative. When I really just didn't know.

It drives my mom nuts that I don't notice when she changes her hair but it would have to be a drastic change for me to be able to tell it's different. A new style on the same haircut or a few inches trimmed off or a slightly different color and I can't tell.

Let me explain: I am not diagnosed nor am I "self-diagnosed," all I know are what my life experiences have been up to this point and a lot of it makes more sense when considered through the lens of autism and sensory processing issues.

Only if what they are wearing seems inorganic I can't really explain it, there are people who wear clothes because they like them whatever they are, there are people who wear clothes because they need to for certain roles and there are people who wear clothes to make you believe they are part of enlightened cults called 'trends' but they don't quite grasp that a trend is not a meaningful movement, it is a fleeting stain pumped out by a leaking aquarium, wearing clothes because you're supposed to look like something else is for mannequins and mannequins are only pimped out shells with no opinions except the reflection of a window shopper's nightmare.

Yeah, I also notice motifs on T-shirts when I like them. I have particularly noticed them whern watching Dice Towers videos on YouTube. I also generally like the way Sheldon dresses (his shirts, and wearing a T-shirt over a long sleeved shirt) and the way Punky Brewster dressed in the first season, so I noticed those.

Heh, that reminds me that when people I have known have changed something about themselves, like hair style, I either don't notice it or I don't recognize them.

I like looking the clothes that people wear, but I try not to do it very much because people might get the wrong idea.

People usually only wear the same stuff and call their tastes individualistic. People are hypocrites. I look at clothes. I prefer people who wears jeans, t-shirts and hoodies. I do not trust people who wear neckties though. It makes them seem too uptight and capitalist. Certain articles of clothing or jewelry make people more attractive, however it cant get too flashy or expensive.

I don't really care what people wear and I don't pay much attention, with one major exception. Back when I worked retail and was helping a customer I would mentally note something they were wearing so that I wouldn't lose track of them if I had to leave momentarily. I had to do this because I was/am terrible at remembering faces. If I didn't do this I might come back and have trouble figuring out who I had been helping.

I tend to notice people's clothes to some extent. Most of the time I'm disappointed in their dress sense, but occasionally I like what I see. I only notice the clothes I particularly like or dislike.

I don't really focus much on what someone is wearing. I almost always wear a T-shirt and jeans, or shorts if the weather is too hot for jeans, and I think people who wear the same look attractive. People disagree with me on this all the time, but I actually find that a T-shirt and jeans looks more elegant and attractive than a tuxedo. No collars, buttons, or ties. It's such a simple, clean look that I like.

I just want to say that most NT women pay attention to the way a man dresses and their hairstyle. Also, when I go on any date I want to know what he is wearing so I don't over or under dress. I like men who dress up sometimes. Always jeans and a tshirt wouldn't attract me. A nice winter coat is good to. Wearing hats a lot is a turnoff.

I do.

Sometimes I have trouble recognizing someone when there is a big change.

I wear business casual at work along with fun socks. Example converse socks that look like high top all stars. Just ordered some knee high chicken leg socks.

Summer sweats and tee shirt.
Though I'm known to wear long sleeve shirts all year long.
Vest come and go.

My wife and I watch Elementary. We both follow Watson's vintage look.

For the most part, I pay attention only when someone is wearing something that is out of place.

Or not wearing much of anything at all.

I actually do because I have gotten into sewing and textiles. I can't dress myself but I can dress other people. I frequently see other people's clothes and deconstruct and construct those clothes in my head. I notice different styles and unusual nuances in clothing and store them in my head to reference later to add to things I am making. I also deconstruct some things that are just on display in a store, especially if they are on a mannequin. I imagine different materials and how they will drape, fall, or lay.

It unnerves me sometimes because I'll notice that I am staring at a kid on the playground at the park and then wonder if someone thinks I am a pedophile when I am actually just intrigued by their dress. Also, when someone wears a combination of clothing that is very unusual and I can't make sense of it, I fear my face is taking on a "scowl" or a look of derision when in actuality I am just flummoxed by their outfit and trying to figure out how it's been pieced together.

I also analyze quality and durability. I also think about the ethical aspects of clothing and unfortunately I tend to develop a very negative view of people who wear a lot of "fast fashion" as being very shallow.

Before my fabric and sewing days, I really only noticed mismatching or bagginess and only recognized one style on men as being acceptable and for myself I constantly wore the same things and same styles over and over again: pastel fitted T-shirts and jeans. Took me a long time to be comfortable not tucking in my shirt. I also loved embroidered knit holiday vests in college. I didn't know people thought that was so weird and "granny"-style. I had no sense of that. I was dressing in tune with the people I felt most connected with. I eventually gave the vests away after being convinced that my husband thought they were for old people but I kept one. It's for Halloween and has really cool leatherette cats appliquéd onto it. I have gotten a lot more tolerant and flexible with clothing. I have come a long way. Now that I am older I think I will invest in some festive vests again. I also liked the feeling of having something heavyish around my torso. Felt safe.
