Hi,

I didn't start having meltdowns til I was 18, which was after I started taking antidepressants.
I guess I'm just wondering if there's any link there. I've been on antiD's pretty much for my whole life since then so I don't really have anything to compare to.

My other theories are: I didn't have meltdowns til then because it wasn't safe to have them in my childhood home (I moved out at 17).
And also, I had two pretty serious traumas at 17 and then at 18, about a year apart. Maybe that was the last straw.

Thanks for reading. Zel.

Definantly, I've had it happen to me. This is why it is especially important to have your medication closely monitered.

It hasn't happened to me. In fact, it's made them LESS frequent and less intense, but I have heard that it is quite common. I have never really taken a medication that made my meltdowns worse.

After I was on an SSRI for a while, it helpec my anxiety, but started messing me up in other ways where I started getting agressive and more likely to meltdown.

For me, many of my meltdowns are related to anxiety so maybe that's why they haven't gotten worse.

Do you have sensory issues? I got alot worse after working at an overstimulatig job, which I believe has wrought damage on my nervous system that will last years. Anxiety can ramp up sensitivities/the nervous system and vice versa. I suggest (if you haven't already) investigating possible sensory diets.

Thanks everyone,

INTPnarwhal, that's a good idea.
I haven't been having meltdowns for the last few months, I'm really talking about a very long term view of whether, over the last 25 years, SSRI's and SNRI's have caused or worsened meltdowns, agitated depression and a very wired, irritable feeling that has been diagnosed as hypo-mania.

Zel.
