It wouldn't bother me if someone was wearing a coat in class.

Most or some are probably thinking about Columbine High School.

That is great that she was accepting. If she knows you are autistic that will help her understand. She sounds like a nice teacher.

She really is, she knows about it too. Even though she doesn't always find things I do normal she's pretty open to it.

Not as far as I know. But it's something that could easily happen.

In high school, I kept a coat, a sweater and a blanket in my locker. Some of my classrooms were just too cold, and it would be warm outside so I'd have on shorts.
I don't think it's a big deal.

Thank you for your answers :)

My thought to coats in the class room is "stupid air conditioning. Why make it colder inside than it is outside so people have to wear their coats indoors?"

I can't wear summer clothes, because anywhere I go, as soon as I'm indoors I'm freezing to death because of people who crank the air conditioner so it's colder indoors in the summer than it is in the winter.

I agree, I understand why they would like it colder but some people really overdo it.

Just checked it.

That's a scary thought.

Classrooms that cold sounds ridiculous, weird that the school didn't do anything about it.

When I was in high school, we weren't allowed to wear coats in the classroom because they didn't want us to be warm. Because if we were warm, we'd be more likely to fall asleep. We were, however, allowed to wear sweatshirts.

Too many people dress too differently for it to matter much. Probably ananything less than a parka in July doesn't matter.

What's strange to me are the people who dress like it's still summer when it's sweater and coat season. And even have their kids running around in just shorts and t-shirt.

I do too. I don't really judge usually I assume they have some where to go if they keep it on or they are cold.

Wow things have changed.

Somewhat related for gym we had a uniform which was short sleeve shirt and very short pants with the school name on it. If it was above the freezing level (32F 0C) and not raining we went outside, no exceptions.

I used to wear my coat in the classroom back in kindergarten...I was afraid if I put it away I would lose it.

Well I like in a hot as hell desert so a coat in the classroom is pretty weird now but back home when it was cold you'd walk around and wear your winter coat all the time inside.

Haha, that actually makes some sense, I tend to doze off sometimes.

I think it's strange how they don't even give off any signs of freezing.

Too bad I usually stay inside the classroom at all times, haha.

That sounds harsh, good you made it through at least.

I used to do the same thing with other items, I would take them with me everywhere I went because I looked at them as too precious to leave.

When I was younger I tried to wear my winter coat inside, but I weren't allowed to in case I got too used to it so I would have to put on even more clothes to go outside.

I used to wear a coat "all the time" back in my school days too. I'm not sure how or why, but it made me feel more secure and less anxious also. It's entirely about the surroundings though. At home I never "needed" it.

Today I've "graduated" to a thin, but heavier jacket basically whenever I leave the house. 8)

Thank you for answering, I don't really need to wear one at home either, but I usually wear a robe, unless it's too hot.
