I find it annoying when people lose patience and try to fill in the 'pause' for me. And, they are always wrong. It feels like a mental 'stutter'. OK. I don't know what it feels like to stutter, but for me it's a logjam of ideas that collide and I have to sort through them. Sometimes, it's a nexus of tangents that I am trying to prioritize.
So, that pause, makes people anxious and want to fill in the blanks for me. Maybe it's because I can go into fast speak mode many times.
It is very frustrating.
Oh, and the pros that want to jump to other diagnosis because they don't have enough knowledge. For instance, OCD and ADHD. Last person I spoke to literally asked if I had them. Told them I had been screened. They asked if I was tested and if I was sure. This is the VA...not the specialists......
Ummmmm, tested out the wazoo, a 20 page report on how they arrived at their diagnosis and testing methodology. So, yeah, I'm sure...been tested...stop trying to add to the diagnosis.....HFA is enough, thank you very much.
And, completion is a great difficulty with me, told them that a million times and they still ask if I have OCD......sigh.....
