Childish behaviour, is any one else dealing with this?

I'm watching the documentary TREKKIES now (it's on Netflix--have a look ). One fan was featured showing all of the "memorabilia" he's amassed over the years (figures, comic books, lunch boxes, a marshmallow dispenser...yes, really). He said something like "25 years old and I'm still collecting this stuff", quite a lot of which would be considered "toys."

Guess if you're part of a large-scale "fandom", such things can be overlooked...and even publicized. :wink: (Note: I'm a huge Trekkie myself.)

Why repulsive? Being responsible for others, the upkeep of children(time/resource consuming and gross), loss of freedom to do my own thing when and where I want, general lack of confidence in being able to hold my end up.

I have a circle tracker and another for the demolition derby circuit, they are my toy cars.

I can relate, my intellectual maturity is quite high, but my emotional is quite low at times. It fluctuates depending on how I'm feeling at the given moment. It can range from an infant to my actual age.

yes you are all like me! im so happy there are others out there. i like to talk in a silly voice and make silly faces. i also like cartoons and computer games. maybe we should make a special handshake so that we know a childlike person when we meet them. perhap face the opposite direction and shake hands through your legs?

Seventh grade when I was like 12 feels like a week ago to me. And being 15-16 still feels like yesterday. It doesn't always show online, but I definitely behave and look younger than I am in person. No differently from when I was in my teens, prankster tendencies and all. Including terrorizing the neighborhood by singing Re: Your Brains and similar out of car windows for s**ts and giggles.

And I have bursts of outright childishness. Like, I had this running gag for a bit with my ex-girlfriend where I'd randomly finish sentences with "beaver" out of nowhere (e.g. "I went to the store and got peanut butter, chicken, and beavers") and giggle at her reaction, on some level I thought it was kind of hilarious. I only retired it when it was clearly getting stale and annoying, and even then I squeezed some last-minute life out of it by replacing it with "turtle" a few times. Also funny-faces can be kind of amusing.

What's my age again?

Don't believe the gender tag. I was born intersex and identify as queer, girl-leaning. So while I can sometimes present as an effeminate guy, that's less than half the time and if anything I'd prefer it say "female" of the two choices offered. I can't change it though, it's bugged.

I sleep with plushes and chase butterflies. I have My Little Pony coloring pages and a Minecraft poster on my walls. You're not the only childish one. And I also have a job and I'm going to college. So the two are not mutually exclusive. You could do odd jobs to earn your own spending money so you don't have to ask your mom for toys.

I think one of the greatest things about being an aunt is that when I play with my niece, I get to play with toys again, including My Little Ponies which were first around when I was her age. I think that with the trend for adult coloring books means that you can enjoy coloring again, as an adult.

If it's enjoyable and doesn't harm anyone, why is it a big deal? I play with action figures, Digimon toys, matryoshka and am nearly 30. Some people can be so trifling.

I've been dealing with Childish behaviour throughout my life and I don't know how to eliminate this unacceptable behaviour...There has to be a way to stop this Childish behaviour right?

Why would you eliminate it if it makes you happy and it isn't hurting anyone? If the people around you don't like it, find different people to be around.

I am 36 years old and have never really grown up. I have gotten better with responsibilities, I have a son and a wife. I have confirmed ADHD and my psych believes I am on the spectrum, trying to get tested atm, but some of the childishness can be a good thing. I play with my son with his trains, as long as you can learn to manage your responsibilities who cares what you do in your free time? Playing with toys isn't that far of a step from video games and that is an accepted cultural norm, so why not other toys?

Yeah, all I ever wanted is stop being Childish, that's all! I mean, I'm just a kid trapped in an Adult's body. I don't want to be Childish anymore, I just want to be mature at all.
