Yeah, that isn't going away anytime soon. As long as there are overprivileged NTs who are blissfully unaware of how much easier they have it than people with AS, I'm afraid you're going to have to just deal with our justified bitterness.

Besides, with responses like some of those on that post and some of the ones on here, it could just as easily be argued that this forum is filled with anti-AS snobbery, or at least self-hating AS snobbery.

Our justified bitterness?...I certainly don't share that bitterness, I see no point in being bitter towards everyone with neurotypical neurology and I disagree with it being justified.

Just as all of us with AS are individuals, neurotypicals are also individuals, its not like they have a hive mind.

it exists, but you'd have to be on crack to think the amount is anywhere near comparable.

You know I can and sometimes do feel that way about Aspies. How fake they seem sometimes. How superficial or just downright unrealistic their description of autism seems. How they are on a level of function that I could only be on if I experienced some significant breakthrough or miracle cure. That's what the cynical and envious part of my mind thinks.

You're a smart kid, Ezra.

Maybe you can go to college when you're 18. Or perhaps a little later. You have a long life ahead of you.

I bet you're doing much better in your classes now.

I hope the school sees your potential, and places you on an academic diploma track (also known as "the real diploma").

NTs don't really know what it's like for us. They can guess, but they'll never truly know what it's like. It's only natural for us to be jealous of them, and how easy life seems to be for them. It's an NT's world; their neurology is the norm, and that's what most things are going to be designed for. It's not all that different from how most things are designed for right-handed people, even though lefties exist.

I mean it still is, and I'm guilty of it, but it's natural for all humans to group together a "common" enemy, even if that enemy isn't real. We would probably think of people who have Aspergers that we don't know of as the same as other neurotypicals honestly. It's not a real and valid snobbery, it's factitious and most of us are aware of that, it's just natural to attack because a lot of us have had negative experiences with these so called "neurotypicals" even though about 70% of them have some other sort of problem and aren't really neurotypical.

I was thinking maybe of spending a couple of weeks alone in Tijuana. What could possibly go wrong?

We autistics are ultimately human... and thus just a prone to lashing out with bitterness on a bad day, when feeling particularly persecuted.

It's not right, and I wouldn't encourage it... but neither would I come down too harshly on those that let slip.

I'm envious of NTs more than anything, and I was envious of them before I even knew the term "neurotypical". I often wish I could just be normal and function like a normal person and not give a s**t and not be bothered by things that only bother me and not other people.

the air sucks, for starters. you could witness first hand a dog murdering another fellow dog. i've been to tijuana several times, i can attest to those two. i have some family there.

i urge you to learn some spanish, if you haven't already. i don't think mexico is as bilingual as europe is.

ensenada is about an hour or so by bus just to the south, there's quite a few attractions there, not least of which is la bufadora popular with tourists, and is one of only a handful of marine geysers in the world.

personally, i prefer guadalajara.
