Is there a specific name for this or how rare it is?

Hey first off i just wanna point out i basically never use forums so still kinda working my way through the dark here.

Anyway to the point. I know some Autists experience a extremely vivid imagination, like a Matrix or lucid dream constantly running in your head. A couple of friends seem to get mad at me everytime i mention it and say it's a very common thing so i got to wondering: How rare is it actually? Is it specific to Autists and is there a easier name for it than "My Matrix/Dream imagination in my head thingy"

Don't know how to end this off so i hope you have a glorious day filled with... Ice cream? <3

If it's a problem, then it's called "maladaptive daydreaming". If you enjoy it, it's called having a rich inner life. :D https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maladaptive_daydreaming

I tried looking Maladaptive Daydreaming up a couple of places but it doesn't seem to quite describe it. Might just be the wording of the site but thanks a lot anyway :)

Well, if you engage with it and tell yourself ongoing stories using it, it's called an imaginary world or a "paracosm". But if it's the constant running of visual imagination in your head that you can tune into or ignore at will, it's just your "stream of consciousness".

i might have it because i could never focus in school, or i could be confusing it with just looking into blank space and a few seconds suddenly turns into 10 minutes, sort of like a blackout
