Whilst they may not have been strictly weird, I used to obsess over the band Korn and Tom Hardy's depiction of Bane in "The Dark Knight Rises".

I used to listen to a ton of Korn and was obsessed with Heath Ledger's Joker so I can sort of relate.

Even today I think Korn's debut album is pretty good.

This thread reads like a bucket list of great ideas!!

Anyhao:

- Watching the spectral display of said radio while listening.
- Designing, building, redesigning radios.
- Building weird antennas.
- Building amps.
- Building audio filters.
- Building HCI and game interface devices.
- Oscillators.
- If it's covered in buttons and switches: I'm there.
- CNC things.
- Telescopes and stargazing.
- Cameras and optics and photographic tech.
- Esoteric/archaic photographic techniques, equipment and processes.
- Iconic and Old photographs.
- Flight simulation.
- Flight sim hacking and interface building.

I could probably go on, but yeah.

What I don't understand is why my interest in efficiency is so rare. People keep doing things the hard, expensive ways.

BetwixtBetween and enbalmed, though I have NOT studied most of those topics myself, I WOULD be very fascinated listening to someone talk about any of those for hours. I HAVE studied aspects of the following topics:

• Old coded communication techniques (flower language, signal flags, phonetic radio alphabet [had that memorized when I was a kid], distress signals, etc.)
• Old school tests, textbooks, and assignments from the nineteenth century through the 1960s or so- entrance exams and final exams in particular

• Maps: historical, modern, interactive.
• Ancient Coins.
• Language evolution and etymology.

Aspies sure love to make lists, don't they? I think that trait may be as common as, say, not making eye contact, gullibility, or poor social habits. Anyway, here's a little of what I'm into.

Torture devices throughout the ages and from different cultures.
Methods of execution throughout the ages and from different cultures.
Obscure Romantic composers (I collect symphonic music and solo piano music from the Romantic era).
Researching varieties and species of plants and animals. For instance, learning about all the different types of tomatoes, zebras, wildebeests, mushrooms, peppers, monkeys, mangoes, coconuts, corn, etc.
Making lists of the uses of the most versatile fruit or vegetable. (So far I'm leaning towards the tomato although Native Americans would beg to differ and claim it's corn because, so far, they have 32 uses for it).
The psychologies behind why certain groups of people follow one particular dictator/king/chief/khan/etc.
The NYC Subway map.

Is being a "completionist" unusual. By that I mean, for instance, I don't simply have a few albums of music from, say, Franz Liszt - I have his complete non-vocal works - 106 albums. For Mozart, it's 74. For Beethoven, it's 42, etc. I also collect discographies and bootlegs of groups I like - KISS, Iron Maiden (48 albums), Judas Priest (48 albums), Rush (36 albums), Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica (30 albums), many others.

 Yes, I agree; it definitely describes me anyway.

Hmm, I do not know, but this describes me too.

I remember being obsessed with the orange traffic cones at a point and the "caution wet floor" sign. Mom told me at a point that I was obsessed with refrigerators.

I can't believe I forgot how into road signs I am! Domestic or international, I don't care, but I have a particular interest in scoping out pre-Worboys (before 1963) signs still standing today.

Watching tennis has made me listen to how the score is called in the language of the venue holding the tournament and how they say phrases such as "game, set match," "advantage" and the numerical scoreline. I like learning common phrases in different languages and, of course, enjoy watching tennis.
