Hi,

I've been on the forum a while but never posted. Got diagnosed with Aspergers in May of 2015 at the age of 33. Was a bit of a load off my mind and the diagnosis, this forum and blogs have helped me with coping mechanisms. Work were also very good and helped me alot.

After 13 years of working in retail the company has made my position redundant and I am being made jobless along with about 1000 other people.

I've took it hard and am struggling despite being quite relieved as the job was not ideal for me (lots of people).

Feel completely disconnected from my body. Feel like I'm vibrating constantly and am constantly tired (I'm sleeping 12 hours a day at the moment rather than my usual 5-6). Am I ill or do you think this is just part of the autism and stress?

Thanks in advance

Wayne

I suspect that it is just a physical reaction to your stress and uncertainty. Perhaps you are also experiencing depression, which is not unlikely given the circumstances, and would explain why you still feel tired despite sleeping so much. Even if you didn't really like your job, the sudden change in circumstance would be upsetting and stressful.

My advice is that you don't worry about your physical symptoms too much. If you are just struggling to cope (and not ill), worrying about it won't improve the situation. If your symptoms persist after a week or so, seeing a doctor would probably be advisable, even if the cause is emotional/psychological.

Good luck, and take care of yourself.
