Genetic disorders

Quack medicine (specifically, refutations of it)

Abnormal psychology

Python programming language lately

Nutrition science

Mostly, though, more than anything, I love to read news articles and news journals. If I'm not working, I'm reading. Often about the above topics, but I'm not picky.

I've been learning python too, haven't done much with it in about a month besides programming single function calculators as a mnemonic aid for learning math though. I'm not deep into the scientific side of nutrition, but I track every single macro and micronutrient on a spreadsheet and eat the same exact weight and variety of foods every day so it always equals enough for me. I've also got a habit of refuting quackery.

Oh, lovely :D . We "bred" fish at school once, but they didn't give birth to live young. A lot of them died :( .

I only keep two species of livebearer.

What species are they?

Guppy and Least Killifish also known as dwarf livebearer.

Cool! :D

Isaac Newton had a "special interest" in gravity; he wasn't diagnosed with Asperger's.

Issac did not have a diagnosis because he was born before 1943. Issac was autistic. His behaviour was wild and erratic on occasions. He had liking for sameness and only appears to have taken the same route when taking his walks. His students stopped attended ding his lectures because of his rudeness and "odd" behaviour. That did not stop Issac, oh no, he just turned up anyway and delivered them to empty rooms. I am an astronomer, from Lincolnshire and an autism geek...and autistic of course.

My own special interest is autism, has been for years before I correct diagnosed myself, took a mere 17 years before I realised I had been talking about me for for all that time, I was a goddam SPELL trainer for gods sake, I even did a post grad, talk about staring you in the face.

I did a new interest to be honest..apart from astronomy, autism, collecting records by The Fall (70 vinyl, over a 100 MP3s, over 500 bootleg recordings, then there are the books, videos, set lists..yadda, yada)

I had a lot of special interests, especially growing up. Some of those were astronomy, meteorology, art, writing, and anything related to animals.

Now I have a few more... I have an interest in psychology from trying to understand myself and people who'd hurt me, an interest in history, serial killers, crime, other cultures, and I'm also obsessed with movies.

I had an interest in autism since I was in the sixth grade, when I read a Reader's Digest condensed version of a book called "For The Love of Ann," about a severely autistic British girl, Ann Hodges, whose parents worked to help her when doctors had discarded her. I always had an idea I was different and thought that I could be somewhere on the spectrum. I first heard of Asperger syndrome in 1997 when I read a book about autism at the library. The traits of Asperger's really fit me. I was 32 at the time.

I always had some special interest. My most enduring has been animals, especially cats.

Nice :D ! I have almost always had a special interest as well. I first heard of autism on a reality TV show where this lady's son was autistic and couldn't speak. I first heard of Asperger's syndrome when I looked it up online. Since then, I have tried to learn everything I could about ASD's. It's awesome how you finally figured it out :D. I named cats after your Siamese cats in my Minecraft world, by the way :D

If you note the specific context of my quote, you would realize why I wrote what I wrote. It makes more sense if one looks at the specific context.

Of course, one can be "Aspergian" without being diagnosed with Asperger's. One can be anything without necessarily being diagnosed with it.

I know this is going to sound bizarre, but I'm compulsively obsessed with suicide and with Life, Death, Nature, Fate, Fortune, God, the Universe, and All That, Whatever, and Whoever else is pulling our strings.

This all began in 1945, when I died in the womb of oxygen starvation, in the course of birth, and was carried in the arms of The Angel of Death to Heaven, and handed to God, to have and to hold. He walked and talked and played with me, until The Angel of Death returned, and transported me to Earth, put me back in my mortal coil, which the Maternity Team had birthed and re-oxygenated, and kick started me back to life.

I was much happier being dead than alive, as I'd had a terrible time on Earth until then, severely marred by my mother suffering severe clinical depression and migraines since my conception and wishing me and herself dead, and even contemplating committing suicide as she was in so much misery with me growing inside her, sucking her life out of her, like an alien parasite implanted in her, to live off her nutrients until fit to draw breath myself.

I loved being dead so much, I kept dying all through my childhood until losing my memory of how when I was 15½ following a severe head injury. It was a deliberate memory loss, as I felt that if I could not kill my life, then I'd have to kill my memory of it. So, I spent the next 34 years not knowing who I was, where I was, what I was, or why I was, nor when or how I got to be like that. I would still be the same, to this day, had I not had a nervous breakdown. It necessitated hypno regression therapy.

So, what you have just read is my interpretation of the memories the psychiatrist who gave me that regression therapy managed to tease out of my head. But he wasn't surprised by it. In fact, he said it was 'so normal' that all of my professional working colleagues had similar memories. He was an Asperger's Syndrome specialist and said they all had it too. I knew we were all temperamentally alike, but he made it sound like we were all peas from the same pod, so I said this to him, and he said that, in a way, we were exactly that, as we were related.

What he told me was that it all stemmed from William the Conqueror and that Asperger's Syndrome is basically a colonial disease, that had been controlled by the County Surveyors Society he had set up, of which I'd been a member since birth, but it was subject to the Official Secrets Acts of the UK and Commonwealth, so the nations that had been Britain's colonies, but won independence by armed revolution, like the USA, Eire, and India, didn't have a clue as to the condition, and mistook it for all kinds of other mental diseases, like post traumatic stress, psychosis, narcissism, schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, anxiety, etc., etc.

My performance at work went into orbit as a result of my finding this out, and I was asked both by him, and by my employer, to coach and counsel my colleagues; and I've been doing that ever since, and now do it mostly by email autoresponder, pro bono, to anyone who needs it, teaching them suicide avoidance and prevention, by 7 Steps in 7 Days for avoidance and 7 Steps in 98 Days for prevention, with remarkable success, I'm very glad to say. PM me if you want to sign up.
