I understand that some aspies have a hard time understanding jokes, sarcasm and so on, for me this is partly true, I often don't get jokes made by people I am not friends with. But if I had the confidence to stand up on stage, I have been told I could make a good living as a comedian by friends and family. It makes no sense that I process most things slowly when talking but I have a sharp sense of humor, I can come up with a funny joke instantly and see the funny side of any situation. My jokes and sense of humor is mostly quite dark, rude and dirty but I am great at making people laugh. I am always butting into conversions with jokes and people love it. If anyone knows who Frankie Boyle is or Hugh Dennis, that's pretty much my sense of humor. Ever since I was a kid, all throughout school I have always had a small number of friends because people actually wanted to befriend me because they thought I was a funny guy. My friends say the way I make jokes in such a casual and serious tone is why they find it so funny, and they say my jokes make much more sense which I don't understand what they mean by this. Thought it has gotten me into trouble more times than I can count throughout my life at work and school. Anyone else have similar experiences?

I like to think I have a pretty good, if somewhat dark sense of humor. I can make up a joke on the spot and and there's about a 65% chance people will laugh at it. Unlike you, though, my sense of humor has never gotten me in any trouble to speak of.

If you don't mind me asking, BTW, I'm curious as to how exactly your humor has gotten you in trouble.

I have been told I have a good sense of humor. Scripted jokes out of a book bore me. I don't find most of them funny.

Very funny, but entirely inappropriate.

That's what people tell me.

I have a good sense of humor.

I suck at telling jokes.

Just "being me" sometimes makes people laugh.

I love comedy. I like to watch stand up comedy specials on Netflix and Hulu. My favorites include Gabriel Iglesias, Dave Chappelle, George Carlin, Betty White, Robin Williams, and Larry the Cable Guy. I watch a lot of sitcoms and sketch comedy shows too. My sense of humor can be raunchy, but I can do clean jokes for those who would prefer it. My NT brother taught me sarcasm and he is one of the most sarcastic people I know. I also love to write parodies of songs and I love Weird Al Yankovic. Comedy has always been my obsession. My grandma thought I was very witty when I was a kid. When I had to do presentations at school, I always incorporated humor in them and I always made my classmates and teachers laugh.

It used to get me in trouble in class as I never took anything serious, making jokes out of everything the teacher would say, made a teacher cry once without meaning to. Also got banned from a couple of friends houses because I unintentionally offended their parents with my humour and so on

I love making jokes about my own insanity. I especially love making fun of the fact that I am suicidal.

Yes I have a very good sense of humor. People even seek me out because of it. One thing I notice though is that I tend to emulate the style and copy the jokes of whatever comedian I've been watching. Also my silliness is a bit of a coping mechanism to make up for the fact that I can't socialize well. I cover up my social deficits with humor.

I too am good with jokes, puns, sharp retorts and making people laugh. Sometimes I don't know when to stop though.

I've come to believe that my affinity for puns actually has to do with the whole ASD literal thinker thing. When someone says something to me, my brain seems to automatically look for the most literal application of each word. I still receive the intended message, but the language plays around in my head.

I'm so glad I'm not alone in this because I totally copy the style of comedians as well. I used to have a rather intense obsession with Kathy Griffin and I now tend to tell jokes in the same type of way that she does. Very different subject matter, but otherwise identical style of humor.

People either love my sense of humor or they don't get it at all. I say things in such a serious matter-of-fact way that they're never quite sure if I'm being serious or not.

I'm also really quick about word play and puns and I make connections really quickly that other people don't seem to see. I always assumed it was because I'm such a big reader and therefore I'm good with words but it could definitely be ASD related.

Sounds familiar :)

I like puns, plays on words and anything involving the use of language in humorous ways.

I can completely relate to you, that's why I joke so much and never take things seriously, and act like I'm crazy in social situations. I don't know how to have a serious grown up conversation with people and if I act myself then people would think I'm weird and awkward but they do anyway.
