It's a stim for me, a self-comforting thing. I can repeat-watch / listen to the same movie / show / song literally hundreds of times.

Hmmm yeah, I sort of do that too with music. I listen to the exact same music every morning as part of my morning routine and sometimes I might listen to something else if I'm really in the mood for something else, but I don't really deviate that often.

I wish you lot would stop pointing these things out to me.
When Star Trek Voyager first came out I bought the recordings (on VHS, would you believe) and virtually wore them out. I did the same with Red Dwarf.. now I've got it all on DVD but I don't watch as much.
When I was 16 I first read Lord of the Rings... read it back to back 6 times... I just didn't want it to end... until I discovered the Gormenghast trilogy (nearly went nuts reading that).

Oh, yeah----I do this all-the-time, as well. I can re-watch movies / TV shows----re-read books, listen to the same song(s), dozens of times, back-to-back, no problem.

A little of the psychology behind this behavior, for me, is that no.1, I like TV that I can listen-to (as opposed to watch), so I can be doing other things (like playing chess on my computer), at-the-same-time; and, no.2, sometimes, I like to read books, according to my mood----and, if I wanna be HAPPY, why take a chance, that a NEW book will make me happy, when I have an OLD book, that I've read, say, a dozen times, and that I KNOW will make me happy!!

I was a HUGE fan of the Harry Potter books----every time a new book, came-out, I'd read all the other books, that came before it, before I got the new one, in preparation (to make sure I hadn't forgotten, anything).

Lol, I did that too :) Although I also re-read the previous ones several times in between as well as I was waiting and waiting for the next book to come out...so I've read the first several books many many times, and the last couple only a few (although 7 is my favorite altogether so I'll sometimes re-read just that one)

I find myself re-watching episodes of my favourite TV shows. I re-watch episodes of Hogan's Heroes when I should be going to bed. I've seen each episode 5 times and I'm going to keep watching it until it's replaced with another old show. If the replacement show ever happens to be The Monkees, I'll probably keep re-watching episodes of that show.

I like to watch the interview of Denis Istomin following his Australian Open victory over Novak Djokovic. Denis has such a nice voice and a good sense of humor.

I re-watch and re-read everything that I like.
I tend to get very obsessed with fictional stories and characters, and if I’m obsessed with a show/movie/book I re-watch it dozens of times in a rather short period of time. For example my favorite show at the moment: I have watched the whole show from first to last episode five times (it has 3 seasons). My favorite seasons I’ve watched at least seven or eight times and additionally to that I’ve watched my favorite episodes at least twenty times. Furthermore, I’ve watched all my favorite scenes hundreds of times on youtube.
Also, I love to fan-music videos of said shows/movies on youtube. I can watch them for hours and always the same few ones repeatedly. I guess, it’s a bit like a stim. It’s very relaxing and it always helps me when I feel stressed.

I re-watched an adorable video about a girl reunited with her lost cat. I knew I saw it recently, but it was worth another look. It was so CUTE!

Absolutely. Currently I am repeat watching Big Bank Theory (I have seen all the episodes many times). Before that it was Mythbusters. I re-read books, listen to the same music, etc. etc. It is comforting and makes me feel better/blocks out the world.

i re-watch almost everything i like and have difficulty committing to watching new things (watch one episode = watch all episodes). getting to the end of something i like (series, film, activity) causes me quite a lot of distress.

I like re-watching and re-experiencing favorite movies and favorite TV shows/episodes of TV shows. It's simply a matter of liking it so much that I want to see it again. When I was obsessed with B5 at 19, I re-watched mt fave episodes over and over and was equally drawn into them every time.
Until somewhere in my teen years I would re-read favorite books too, but then I stopped, likely because the books got longer so it took too long and there were so many other books I wanted to read too.
These days I re-hear my fave creepypastas.
